Can’t figure out why the Riot Client is not opening on your computer?

If you are here, we can safely assume that the Riot Client is not launching or opening on your computer.

Most of the time, this issue is caused by corrupted resources or game files. On the other hand, it can also be due to outdated clients, slow network connections, third-party applications, and improper user configurations.

In this guide, we will show you how to fix Riot Client if it’s not opening on your computer.

1. Restart Your Computer

Before doing anything on your system, we suggest restarting your computer if you encounter problems with the Riot Client. This should reload your resources and eliminate temporary errors in the process.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key to open the Start Menu
  2. After that, access the Power Options tab.
  3. Finally, choose Restart to reboot your system.
Restart PC

Once done, relaunch the Riot Client to check if the problem is solved.

2. Run Riot Client As Admin

If the Riot Client refuses to launch, we recommend running the client as an administrator. This should give the app full access to your system, which should bypass any restrictions set by your operating system.

Follow the steps below to run Riot Client as admin:

  1. On your desktop, locate the Riot Client and right-click on it.
  2. Next, choose Properties and access the Compatibility tab.
  3. Finally, ensure that the ‘Run this Program as an Administrator’ option is marked checked.
Run As Admin

Try running the client again and check if the problem is solved.

3. Disable Antivirus

Antivirus are third-party software that protects your computer from malware and other viruses. While they work great for security purposes, they can also cause issues with legitimate applications like Riot Client.

To avoid problems, we suggest turning off your antivirus before running the Riot Client on your computer.

You can also try adding Riot Client to your safe list to prevent your antivirus from blocking it.

4. Update Your Graphics Card

Outdated graphics card drivers could also cause the Riot Client not to open up. To avoid problems, we suggest updating your display drivers to the latest version possible to patch bugs and other issues.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. First, press the Windows + X keys on your keyboard to open the Quick Access Menu
  2. Click on Device Manager and expand the Display Adapters tab.
  3. Lastly, right-click on your video card and select Update Drivers

Restart your computer afterward and check if the problem is solved.

5. Close Unused Applications

Your system might not have enough resources to run the Riot Client. If this is the case, we recommend closing any unused applications to free up system memory and CPU threads.

Head to the task manager and identify which applications you are not using.

6. Update Windows

The version of Windows you are using might have an underlying issue that causes problems with the Riot Client. To address this, update your operating system to the latest version possible to patch bugs and errors.

See the steps below to update Windows:

  1. On your computer, access the Start Menu and go to Windows Settings
  2. After that, click on Update & Security and click on Windows Update
  3. Finally, click on Check for Updates and follow the prompts.

Restart your computer to apply the changes and see if you can now open the Riot Client.

That ends our guide on how to fix Riot Client if it’s not opening on your computer. If you have other concerns, please voice them out in the comment section, and we’ll do our best to answer them.

If this guide helped you, please share it. 🙂

Already experiencing the overheating issue on the iPhone 14 Pro?

Apple recently launched its new iPhone 14 Pro in the market, and people are loving it.

However, with numerous perks that come with this specific model, iPhone users have also reported certain issues, the most common one being an overheating problem.

To help you resolve this matter, we’ve gathered several quick fixes in this guide that can return your iPhone’s temperature to normal.

1. Disable ‘Always-On’ Display Setting

The Always-On Display has got to be one of the biggest features on the iPhone 14 Pro that shows you date, time, and other lock screen widgets on a dim screen even when you’ve locked your device. While it sounds cool, the feature has been the reason for some iPhones to overheat.

To fix this, simply disable Always-On Display by following these steps:

  1. First, launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Then, select Display & Brightness.
  3. Switch off the toggle next to Always On.
disable Always-On Display

2. Wait For iPhone to Restore Data From iCloud

If you just got your hands on the new iPhone 14 Pro, there’s a high probability that you’re in the middle of transferring data from your old device via iCloud.

During this period, a lot of data is being processed, not just in the foreground but also in the background.

In fact, several options like app recommendations and facial detection in the Photos app may take around a few days to a week to stabilize.

Therefore, if you’ve recently switched iPhones, wait around a week or so and observe your device’s temperature.

3. Update to the Latest iOS Version

As minor glitches and system bugs may also cause your iPhone to overheat, it’s best to update it to the latest iOS version available. Though iOS 14 has just come out, Apple releases minor updates every now and then that contain fixes for most reported issues.

Here’s how to check for iOS updates on iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Then, go to the General tab.
  3. From there, select Software Update.
update iOS
  1. If there are pending updates, tap on Download & Install.

4. Remove Lock Screen Widgets

The lock screen widgets on iOS 16 continuously fetch data from their relevant apps. To show you updated information, the applications are constantly running in the background, even if you’ve force-closed them. These widgets also require heavy resources to run and hence consume extra power, leading to a rise in your device’s temperature.

Try removing the lock screen widgets to bring your device temperature down by following these steps:

  1. Press and hold down anywhere on your iPhone’s Lock Screen.
  2. Then, tap on the Customize option at the bottom of the screen. This will enter you into edit mode.
  3. To remove a lock screen widget, select the widget box below the time and tap on the – icon.
remove lock screen widgets iOS 16

5. Temporarily Shut Down Your iPhone

When you shut down your device, it discards all the running applications, processes, and services. That way, if any application or a system bug is causing your iPhone 14 Pro to overheat, its activity will be blocked, and the temperature will cool down, at least for the time being.

If you cannot find the root cause of the temperature increase or fix it afterward, this method is a must to follow. Overheating takes a toll on the iPhone battery, reducing its life span.

Follow the steps below to shut down your iPhone 14 Pro:

  1. Press and hold down the Side button and either of the Volume buttons simultaneously until you see a slider appear on your iPhone’s screen.
Restart iPhone 14 Pro
  1. Drag the slider across the screen to shut down your device temporarily.

6. Turn On Low Power Mode

Although you shouldn’t turn on Low Power mode on your iPhone unless the battery percentage is below 20%, the feature is handy when experiencing the overheating issue on iPhone 14 Pro and other models.

When enabled, your iPhone will block all background activity, preventing continuous passive data gathering. This allows your device to use the minimum required resources, lowering the dissipation of heat.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Then, tap on Battery.
  3. Turn on the toggle next to Low Power Mode.
Enable Low Power Mode on iPhone

7. Turn Off Location Services

If you have Location Services enabled on your iPhone, apps like Weather, Maps, etc., will derive data regularly to know your whereabouts.

This may result in you experiencing the overheating issue on the iPhone 14 Pro, as it’s continuously using more resources than it should.

To fix this, simply disable Location Services by following the steps below:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your device.
  2. Then, go to Privacy & Security.
Overheating Issue on iPhone 14 Pro
  1. After that, tap on Location Services.
  2. Turn off the toggle next to Location Services.
Disable Location Services

8. Avoid Using iPhone Under Direct Sunlight

Though Apple provides in-built protection for its internal components, the device temperature greatly relies on external conditions. If you’re using your latest iPhone 14 Pro under direct sunlight on a hot day, its temperature will eventually become unbearable.

It’s recommended to avoid using applications that consume heavy resources, such as GPS tracking, games, navigation, etc., at such times for optimal performance of your device.

In addition to that, avoid leaving your iPhone in direct sunlight for too long, such as in the car.

9. Avoid Using iPhone While Charging

We all know that charging an electronic device generates heat from it. This energy needs to be properly dissipated to maintain your iPhone’s battery health.

If you start using the device on top of that, it will consume resources which will add to the already generated heat, causing its temperature to rise abnormally.

Overheating Issue on iPhone 14 Pro

For this reason, you are advised to leave your iPhone unused while charging to avoid damaging its battery. If the temperature continues to rise afterward, take your iPhone 14 Pro out of its case and let it cool.

10. Use a Non-Fast Charger (Or Another Charger)

Another thing to keep in mind while putting your iPhone on charge is to avoid using a fast charger.

Fast charging increases the temperature at a similar rate.

On the other hand, when you use a non-fast charger, your iPhone will gain some time to dissipate the heat properly, preventing the temperature from rising abruptly.

Apple non-fast charger

11. Remove iPhone From Charge

The latest iPhone features put the charging on hold if the temperature increases past a limit and resumes when it goes back to normal.

But even after that, if your iPhone overheats to an unbearable level, you should immediately remove it from charging to prevent damaging your battery.

Wait for it to cool down before putting it back on charge.

12. Replace Your iPhone (Free if Within 14 Days*)

If none of the above-mentioned methods helped get your device back to normal temperature, the problem might be in the hardware components.

Since the iPhone 14 Pro was released just recently, it’s likely you got your hands on it not too long ago.

Fortunately, Apple lets its users return or replace their devices in case of any malfunctions. But you must submit a request within the 14-day limit of purchasing the device.

If this guide helped you, please share it. 😊

Are you wondering why you can’t follow users on TikTok?

If you are here, it’s safe to assume that TikTok is not allowing you to follow users on the platform.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a step-by-step guide on what to do if you can’t follow users and pages on TikTok.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Check TikTok’s Servers if They’re Down

Being an online platform, TikTok relies on its servers to deliver content and services to its users. If the servers go down, expect some features to become unusable or the entire platform not to work.

If you can’t follow users on TikTok, try to check the status of the servers to identify where the problem is coming from. You can do this by using third-party tools such as Downdetector

TikTok Server Status

Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do if TikTok’s servers are down. Since server-related issues can’t be addressed on your end, any changes on your device won’t affect the platform’s current status.

However, you can proceed to the next solution below if TikTok’s servers are up and running.

2. Restart the TikTok App

If you can’t follow users on TikTok, one of the simplest things you can do is restart the app. This will allow your system to reload TikTok’s resources and eliminate any errors that may have occurred during run time.

For most modern iOS and Android devices, you can restart TikTok using the application switcher.

Swipe upwards from the bottom of your display to access the app switcher and locate TikTok. Drag or flick the application upwards to remove it from the list and stop it from running.

Once done, go back to your home screen and relaunch TikTok from there.

If you are using an older iOS device, you can open the application switcher by pressing the Home button twice.

3. Check Your Network Connection

When using an online platform, a stable internet connection is required to enjoy the platform’s services and features. If you can’t follow users on TikTok, try to check if your network is working correctly.

You can do this by performing a speed test using Fast.com to measure your connection’s current upload and download bandwidth.

cant follow users on TikTok

If the test indicates that your network is the culprit, unplug your router from the outlet and wait for at least 5 seconds before plugging it back in to reset your connection.

Once done, re-run the test on your network to check if the problem is solved. If not, contact your service provider and ask them to fix the issue.

4. Clear TikTok’s App Cache

Similar to other applications, TikTok uses temporary data generated from your activity to enhance its performance. These data are called caches, and they can accumulate over time or become corrupted.

When your app cache gets corrupted, TikTok may not work correctly. To fix this, see the steps below to clear TikTok’s cache:

  1. First, launch the TikTok app on your device and access your Profile
  2. After that, tap on the Options tab in the upper-right corner of your screen and scroll down to the Caches & Cellular Data tab.
  3. Lastly, choose Free Up Space and tap the Clear button under the Cache tab.

Once done, restart the TikTok app and see if you can now follow users and pages on TikTok.

5. Update TikTok App

If you still can’t follow users on TikTok, we suggest updating the app to eliminate bugs and glitches that may have occurred on the app.

For iOS users, check out the steps below to update TikTok:

  1. Launch the App Store on your device and go to your Profile
  2. After that, find TikTok on the list of applications with pending updates on your device.
  3. Finally, hit the Update button next to TikTok to install the update.
Update Apps iOS

If you are using an Android device, here’s what you need to do to update TikTok:

  1. First, go to your home screen and open the Play Store
  2. Next, tap on your Profile and choose Manage Apps & Device
  3. Go to the Updates Available tab afterward and look for TikTok
  4. Lastly, hit the Update button if there’s a pending update for the app to start installing it.
Update Apps Android

After updating the app, try to follow a user or page to check if the problem is solved.

6. Report the Problem to TikTok

If none of the solutions above worked for you, we recommend letting the professionals take over.

Visit TikTok’s Help Center and get in touch with their team to report the issue you’ve been experiencing on the platform. Provide your account details, the user you want to follow, and other necessary information on your report to speed up the process.

Spotlight Search is a powerful search tool on macOS that helps you find apps, folders, and files.

However, it can be annoying when it doesn’t show you what you want. Sadly, this is the case for several macOS users who can’t look up files from Spotlight Search.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to get Spotlight Search working again on your Mac.

1. Wait for Spotlight Indexing to Finish

Spotlight Search automatically reindexes after an update to account for new files, apps, and features.

If you just updated your system, allow Spotlight Search to finish indexing your storage first.

Depending on your storage and files, indexing can take anywhere from several hours to up to 2 days, depending on how many files you have on your Mac.

Note

  • Indexing should not take an entire day if your Mac has an SSD.
  • Spotlight Search only indexes once after an update.
  • If it reindexes repeatedly, proceed to the solutions below to troubleshoot the issue.

2. Refresh Spotlight Search

A bug or error may have occurred on Spotlight Search, causing it to malfunction or not show desired results.

To rule this out, refresh the service by disabling/enabling it:

  1. Go to Apple Menu > System Settings
  2. Scroll down from the side menu and access Siri & Spotlight
  3. Find Spotlight, and under Search Results, uncheck everything.
Siri & Spotlight
  1. Restart your Mac.
  2. Go back to Siri & Spotlight and check all the entries.

Try Spotlight Search again to check if the problem is solved.

3. Use Command + Space Shortcut

If Spotlight Search does not appear when opening from the Control Center, you can try using the Command + Space shortcut.

You can also try holding the Spotlight icon from the Control Center until Spotlight Search shows at the center of your screen.

4. Rebuild Spotlight Index

Spotlight is a selection-based search system that uses an index of all files on your system to load them quickly.

However, this index can get corrupted and cause Spotlight Search to malfunction.

To rebuild Spotlight’s index using System Settings, you need to:

  1. Go to Apple Menu > System Settings
  2. Now, click on Siri & Spotlight from the side menu.
System Settings
  1. Scroll down and click on Spotlight Privacy
  1. Drag your disk or folder to the list of locations that Spotlight is prevented from searching.
spotlight search not working on mac
  1. Restart your Mac.
  2. Return to Spotlight Privacy.
  3. Select the folder or drive you added and click the (-) icon to remove it.
  4. Click Done, and Spotlight will reindex your folder or drive.

You can also use the Terminal to rebuild Spotlight’s index:

  1. Press Command + Space and look for Terminal
  2. Open the Terminal
  3. Type sudo -i and hit Enter to run the command.
  4. Enter your password.
  5. Now, run these commands one by one:
mdutil -Ea

mdutil -ai off

mdutil -ai on

Once you see a message that says “Indexing Enabled,” you’re done. Test Spotlight Search afterward to confirm if it works.

5. Restart SystemUI Server

The SystemUI Server manages system menu items, including search content in Spotlight.

Restarting this process should address any issues with the software that causes Spotlight Search to malfunction.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open Finder on your Mac.
  2. Now, go to Application > Utilities
  3. Launch the Activity Monitor

  1. Type “sys” in the search box at the upper right corner.
  2. Locate the SystemUI Server process.

  1. Double-click on it and choose Quit

This automatically restarts the SystemUI Server process. Once again, try using Spotlight Search and see if it’s working.

6. Update Your Mac to Latest Version

The version of macOS you’re using might have an issue related to Spotlight Search or indexing.

If none of the solutions above worked, try updating your Mac.

  1. In the upper left corner of your screen, click the Apple icon to open the Apple Menu
  2. Now, click on System Settings
  3. Inside settings, navigate to General > Software Update
  4. If a new version is detected, follow the prompts to install the update.

Note

  • Your Mac can restart several times while installing the update.
  • The update progress bar might also appear to be stuck. When this happens, don’t do anything. Software updates can take several minutes to complete.

FAQs

Spotlight Search is enabled by default on your Mac. You can access the feature by doing any of the following:

1. Clicking the Spotlight icon in the Menu bar.
2. Pressing Command + Space on your keyboard.
3. Pressing the dedicated function key on the keyboard (if available).
The most common reason the search feature is not working on Finder is problems with indexing. Your system’s current index of all your files may have gotten corrupted, which makes it difficult for Finder to find what you’re looking for.
Spotlight Search reindexes your system after an update to account for new files and apps. If you’ve just updated your Mac, Spotlight may not work correctly for a few hours while indexing is in process.
1. Open Activity Monitor on your Mac.
2. Now, access the CPU tab.
3. Click the ProcessName column to sort processes alphabetically.
4. Find “mdworker” from the list.
5. If the process is using CPU resources, Spotlight is indexing.
Depending on your system, Spotlight indexing can take several hours or up to 2 days if you have large files on your Mac. Indexing can also take longer than usual if you have external drives connected to your Mac.

If this guide helped you, please share it.

While composing a message, you may want to rephrase a sentence, copy a portion, or simply remove a word.

However, this may not be possible if you do not see the “edit” menu when you long-press a word or sentence.

In this guide, I’ll show you what to do if editing messages is not working on your iPhone.

1. Restart Messages App

Before anything, I suggest restarting the Messages app if you can’t access the “edit” menu while composing a message.

This ensures that a temporary bug or error is not causing the problem.

  1. Swipe upwards from the bottom of your screen or double-press the Home button to access the app switcher.
  2. Find Messages from the list of apps running on your iPhone/
  3. Drag or flick the app upwards to close it.
App Switcher

2. Restart Your iPhone

If restarting the Messages app did not work, try restarting your iPhone.

This allows your system to reload its resources, resolving any errors that could be causing the “edit” menu not to show up.

Restarting your iPhone also clears unused and corrupted data from the system memory.

If you’re using an iPhone with Face ID, here’s how you can restart it:

  1. Hold the Volume Down and Side buttons until the ‘Slide to Power Off’ prompt appears.
  2. Now, drag the slider to the right and wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Press the Side button afterward to turn on your device.
Restart iPhone

For iPhones with Touch ID, you can restart them by doing the following:

  1. Locate the Power button on your device.
  2. Hold the button until the ‘Slide to Power Off’ prompt appears.
  3. Drag the slider to the right and wait 30 seconds before turning on your device.
Restart iPhone Home Button

3. Update Your iPhone

Software-related issues could also be why you can’t edit, copy, or paste while composing a message.

To rule this out, install the latest version of iOS on your iPhone to patch any bugs or errors.

Here’s how you can update your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to General > Software Update
  3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
  4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.
Update iPhone

Note

  • Your device can restart several times while installing the update.
  • Ensure your iPhone has at least 50% battery before installing updates. It’s best to keep your device plugged into the wall charger to avoid interruptions.
  • Allow at least 15 minutes for the update to install, especially if it’s a major update (iOS 15 to iOS 16).

To avoid missing future updates, enable automatic updates on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Go to General > Software Update > Automatic Updates
  3. Enable Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates

4. Check If You’re Using iMessage

The feature to edit a sent message(s) is only available for iMessage, not regular SMS/MMS.

Check if the message you sent has a blue or green bubble.

edit messages not working on iphone

Rule of thumb: The blue bubble is iMessage, which means the message is sent to another iPhone, while the green bubble is the regular SMS/MMS.

5.  Check iMessage Limits

While iMessage allows users to edit sent messages, this doesn’t mean that you can edit any message at any time.

You can only edit a message for 15 minutes after sending it and unsend a message after 2 minutes

In addition, each message you send can only be edited a maximum of 5 times

6. Reset iPhone Settings

If you still can’t edit messages on your iPhone, I recommend resetting your system settings.

Some configurations you’ve set could conflict with one another, and resetting it should get everything sorted.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
  3. Tap on Reset
  4. Select Reset All Settings and follow the prompts.

Note

  • Your iPhone will immediately restart upon resetting your configurations.
  • It may be stuck in the Apple logo. Wait for the process to complete, which usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.

FAQs

Why can’t I edit my messages on iPhone?

Starting with iOS 16, users can now edit sent messages within 15 minutes of sending. However, this feature is only available with iMessage, not regular SMS/MMS. If you can’t edit a sent message, check if it has a green bubble, which is an SMS.

Why does the Edit option disappear on iMessage?

If you can’t see the edit option for a message, it means that the allowed edit period expired. For every message you’ve sent on iMessage, you can edit it within 15 minutes of sending and edit it up to 5 times

Can you edit iMessage after it has been read?

Yes. Your recipient can also view the edit history of your messages. If you don’t want a specific message to be seen, unsending it is a better option. However, you can only unsent a message within 2 minutes after sending it.

How do you know if someone has read your iMessage?

If you text someone with “Read Receipts” turned on, you’ll see the word “Read” under your message and the time it was opened.

To turn on your “Read Receipts”, you need to:

  1. Open the iMessage app
  2. Go to Settings and tap on Messages
  3. Find Send Read Receipts and enable the feature.

Finding a misplaced iPhone is easier than ever if you’ve paired it with an Apple Watch.

In this article, I will show you how to ping an iPhone using an Apple Watch in case you forgot where you placed it.

Let’s begin!

How to Ping Your iPhone Using Your Apple Watch: Step-by-Step

Before we get started, I want to make it clear to you that this will only work if you’ve paired your iPhone with your Apple Watch before misplacing it.

Here’s how you can check:

  1. Open the Find Devices app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Select your iPhone from the list.
  3. Now, tap on Play Sound

If your iPhone is online, it will start playing a sound that gradually increases in volume.

The tone plays for about 2 minutes, giving you enough time to find your iPhone.

Note

You can also ping your iPhone from the Control Center:

  1. Press the Side button on your Apple Watch to open the Control Center
  2. Now, scroll down and find the mobile icon
  3. Tap on it to ping your iPhone.

What Can You Do If Your Side Button on Apple Watch Is Not Working?

If the Side button on your Apple Watch is broken, you can set up a gesture to open the Control Center to ping your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Now, go to Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > Hand Gestures

  1. Select a gesture and select the action you want to perform when you make that gesture. In our case, it needs to be “open the Control Center”.

How to View the Location of iPhone using Apple Watch

If you can’t hear your iPhone, it may be stuck under a pillow or something that blocks sound waves.

Fortunately, you can view your iPhone’s location from your watch, given that it’s online.

On supported devices, you can locate a device even when it’s powered off, in low power mode, or if Airplane Mode is enabled.

  1. Launch the Find Devices app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Now, tap on your iPhone

If your iPhone can be located, it will appear on the map.

Find iPhone

Your iPhone’s approximate distance, the time it last connected to Wi-Fi or cellular, and the charge level will all show above the map.

Ping iPhone Using Apple Watch Not Working? Update Your Devices

If the ping feature is not working correctly, there might be a problem with your iPhone or Apple Watch.

To rule out software-related issues, check if there are available updates for both devices and install them.

To update your iPhone:

To update your Apple Watch:

  1. Ensure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  3. Navigate to General > Software Update
  4. If an update is available, tap Install and follow the instructions.

FAQs

Why can’t I ping my iPhone from my Apple Watch?

If you’re trying to ping your iPhone from your Apple Watch, but nothing is happening, there are a couple of reasons for it:

  • Your iPhone is out of range: to ping your iPhone, it needs to be within range of your Apple Watch to connect via Bluetooth or have available internet via Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
  • Airplane Mode is enabled: if, in any case, you’ve enabled airplane mode before misplacing your iPhone, then pinging it from your Apple Watch won’t work.

How do I make my iPhone ping from my Apple Watch?

There are several ways to ping your iPhone from an Apple Watch:

  • Using the Find My Devices app.
  • Through the Control Center.

Why is my Apple Watch missing the ping iPhone feature in the Control Center?

If you can’t see the ping icon in the Control Center, you might need to add it from settings.

  1. From the Control Center, scroll to the bottom and tap Edit
  2. Scroll down again and tap on More
  3. Find the ping iPhone option to add it to the Control Center.

For some watchOS versions, there’s a known bug where the ping icon is missing from the Control Center, but you’ll see a blank button.

This is the ping button, and it works fine besides the missing iPhone icon.

Can I beep my Apple Watch from my phone?

Yes. Similar to how you can ping your iPhone from your Apple Watch, you can also beep your Apple Watch from your iPhone if you misplaced it. Having the feature to let it play a sound makes it easier for users to find the device anywhere.

Are you experiencing rapid battery drain on your Apple Watch after updating to watchOS 10?

You’re not alone.

In this post, I’ll go over the best solutions to fix your Apple Watch’s battery drain issues and have it last as long as possible.

Let’s jump right in!

1. Update Your Apple Watch

Even if you’ve just updated your Apple Watch, which started the battery drain issue in the first place, Apple may have released another prompt update to address the issue.

So before we proceed with the other solutions in this post, check if you’ve any pending updates available:

  1. Ensure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  3. Navigate to General > Software Update
  4. If an update is available, tap Install and follow the instructions.
Install Apple Watch Updates

2. Tweak Notifications

I recommend reviewing your notification settings if you notice unusual battery usage on your Apple Watch.

Reducing unnecessary alerts can help conserve battery.

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your paired iPhone.
  2. Tap on My Watch and go to Notifications
  3. Select the app you want to customize and choose how you want notifications to be delivered for that app. Ideally, you want to limit the notifications you receive from that application.

  • Allow Notifications – the app is allowed to display notifications in the Notification Center.
  • Send to Notification Center – app notifications are sent directly to the Notification Center without your Apple Watch making a sound or displaying the notification.
  • Notifications Off – the app is not allowed to send any notifications.

3. Unpair and Re-pair Your Apple Watch

Refreshing the connection between your iPhone and Apple Watch should resolve connectivity issues that may be causing battery drain.

Here’s how:

  1. Start by holding your iPhone and Apple Watch close together.
  2. Now, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  3. Go to My Watch tab and tap on All Watches
  4. Tap on the Info button beside the watch you want to unpair.
Apple Watch App
  1. Next, tap on Unpair Apple Watch
Unpair Apple Watch
  1. For GPS + Cellular models, you can select whether to keep or remove your cellular plan.
  2. Enter your Apple ID password to disable Activation Lock and tap Unpair
  3. After 2 to 3 minutes, go through the setup process again to pair your Apple Watch.

4. Reduce Background Refresh

Another way to save battery on your Apple Watch is to turn off background refresh for apps that don’t require it.

This is what you need to do:

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to My Watch and tap on General
  3. Scroll down and tap on Background App Refresh
  4. Disable background refresh for apps you don’t need.
Background App Refresh

5. Use Low Power Mode

Low power mode reduces the amount of power your watch uses to save battery life.

If you still suffer from battery drain on watchOS 10, you can use low power mode on your Apple Watch.

  1. Hold the bottom of your watch’s screen.
  2. Swipe up when the Control Center appears.
  3. Tap on the Battery Percentage button.
  4. Turn on Low Power Mode

Note

The battery icon on your watch turns yellow when Low Power Mode is enabled.

6. Disable Wake on Wrist Raise

The Apple Watch can track your motion and activities.

One of its features is “wake on wrist raise,” which automatically shows the watch face when you look at your Apple Watch.

However, this feature constantly uses motion tracking to detect wrist raises, contributing to high battery usage.

Disabling the feature should help you save battery:

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Now, tap on My Watch in the navigation bar.
  3. Access the Display & Brightness tab.
  4. Look for Wake on Wrist Raise and disable the feature.

7. Disable Always On Display (MUST)

If your Apple Watch has an always-on display, I recommend disabling it if you suffer from unusual battery drain.

Personally, if I could offer you one takeaway solution from this post, then this one would be it, as it has brought the greatest improvement to my Apple Watch’s battery life.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open Settings on your Apple Watch.
  2. Now, tap on Display & Brightness
  3. Access the Always On tab.
  4. Tap the toggle switch to disable the feature.

8. Use Power Reserve

If your current activity doesn’t require health tracking, you can make your Apple Watch function as a regular watch.

Enabling power reserve disables all smart features on your watch, allowing it to consume less power.

  1. On your watch, swipe up to open the Control Center
  2. Now, tap on the Battery Percentage
  3. Look for Power Reserve and drag the slider to the right.

  1. Tap Proceed to confirm your action.

Note

Hold down the Side button until the Apple logo appears to disable Power Reserve. Wait for your Apple Watch to restart.

FAQs

Does watchOS 10 use more battery?

watchOS 10 offers more features that can cause unusual battery drain. It’s best to manage these new features and only enable the ones you really need if you want your Apple Watch to last longer between charges.

Why is my Apple Watch battery draining?

The latest Apple Watch Series 9 only has a 282 mAh battery. For that small capacity, there’s only much software optimization can do. If your Apple Watch’s battery drains faster than usual, check and disable power-hungry features like Always On Display, Background Refresh, and Raise to Wake.

What is the battery life of the new Apple Watch?

Apple advertises the latest Apple Watch to last up to 36 hours. However, battery life is rarely as accurate as what is advertised, as it varies depending on your usage, configuration, and other factors.

Why is my Apple Watch running out of battery so quickly?

There are many reasons why your Apple Watch’s battery is draining quickly: 1) you might have many apps installed that use background refresh, 2) your screen brightness is always maxed out, 3) the version of watchOS you’re using has an issue, 4) or your Apple Watch’s battery needs replacing.

TL;DR Version

If you see No Service or Searching or any other cellular data issues on your iPhone 14 Pro:

  1. Toggle Airplane Mode On and Off
  2. Check for Latest Updates
  3. Disable Wi-Fi Calling
  4. Update Carrier Settings
  5. Disable Your VPN
  6. Reset Network Settings
  7. Contact Your Carrier

    1. Toggle Airplane Mode

Toggling Airplane Mode on and off should force your iPhone to renew the connection with your network provider.

This should resolve connection issues between your iPhone 14 Pro and your provider.

    1. Open the Control Center by swiping downwards from the upper right corner of your screen.

Software bugs can cause cellular data issues on your iPhone 14 Pro. An update could fix it, so I recommend checking if there are available updates for your device.

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > Software Update
    3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
    4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.

    3. Disable Wi-Fi Calling

For unexplained reasons, Wi-Fi calling (VoIP) affects cellular data performance on the iPhone 14 Pro.

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Now, tap on Phone
    3. Tap on Wi-Fi Calling
    4. Disable the Wi-Fi Calling On This iPhone option.

There might be an issue with your current carrier settings. To fix this, check if there are new carrier configurations available for your device.

    1. On your iPhone, go to the home screen and tap on Settings
    2. Now, tap on General and access the About tab.

    5. Disable Your VPN

Some carriers don’t work well with VPNs. If you are using any VPN, disable them to see if it fixes the issue.

If you are using a VPN profile, you can delete it by doing the following:

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Go to General > VPN & Device Management
    VPN Management
    1. Access the VPN tab.
    2. Tap the (i) button next to the VPN Profile you want to remove.
    3. Tap Delete VPN and follow the prompt.

    6. Reset Network Settings

You can reset your network settings if cellular data is still not working on your iPhone 14 Pro.

This should ensure that your network configurations are set to the default settings.

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Go to General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Select Reset Network Settings and follow the prompts.

    Note

    • Your iPhone will immediately restart upon resetting your network configurations.
    • It may be stuck in the Apple logo. Wait for the process to complete, which usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.

    7. Contact Your Carrier

If none of the solutions worked, I suggest contacting your respective carrier to report the issue.

There might be a problem with their services or something wrong with your eSIM, which can only be resolved with the carrier’s intervention.

    FAQs

Why is my cellular data not working on the iPhone 14 Pro?

Your cellular data may not be working because it’s turned off. It’s also possible that you’re in a location with poor reception. Toggle Airplane Mode on/off to refresh the connection with your carrier.

Why does my iPhone keep having cellular issues?

Problems with your carrier settings often cause cellular data issues. To fix this, check if there are carrier settings updates for your iPhone:

    1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > About
    3. A prompt will appear if there’s an update available.

Why does my iPhone keep disconnecting from cellular data?

There are several reasons why you keep getting disconnected from cellular data. There might be an outage in your area, or cellular data services may be blocked from your account. Check with your carrier to ensure your account is active and in good standing or to confirm possible outages.

Why does my iPhone 14 Pro Max have no signal?

You can go to Settings > Mobile Data to check if your mobile line is enabled. If your mobile line is disabled, turn it on, then check if you have service. If you can’t see your mobile line, check if your SIM card is installed correctly or contact your carrier if you use an eSIM.

Why is my iPhone struggling to get a signal?

Your iPhone could struggle to get a signal due to a software or firmware issue. A hardware issue like a bad SIM card can also cause this problem. Check for available updates and ensure that your SIM is installed correctly.

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > Software Update
    3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
    4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.

For unexplained reasons, many iPhone users are experiencing a weird issue when making a call.

Instead of taking them to the Phone app, their iPhones redirect to Instagram.

This is a software problem, and the solutions below should get your iPhone working again.

    Let’s get started!

    Before Anything: Restart Your iPhone

A lot of things can happen while using your iPhone. Temporary errors can occur, which can cause apps and programs to malfunction.

Try restarting your iPhone first to rule out temporary bugs and errors.

Try making another call to see if it will redirect you to Instagram.

    1. Check Contact Call Option

If you have contacts linked to Instagram, the Instagram app is likely selected as the default app for calling.

This explains why the Instagram app keeps opening whenever you call your contacts.

Follow the steps below to change the default app for your contacts:

    1. On your iPhone, access the Contacts app
    2. Next, select a contact that is linked to Instagram.
    3. Press and hold the Call button to open the options tab.
    4. Choose the Phone app from the list.

Repeat the steps for all your Instagram contacts.

    2. Uninstall Instagram

Changing the call option for each contact can be a tedious task when you have hundreds of contacts.

Luckily, you can uninstall Instagram temporarily to force your contacts to revert to the Phone app.

    1. Go to your home screen and find Instagram
    2. Press and hold its app icon until the options menu appears.
    3. Tap on Remove App

Restart your iPhone and try calling again.

You can reinstall Instagram afterward if the problem is resolved.

    3. Update Your iPhone

A software glitch could be causing this problem on your iPhone. To rule this out, check for software updates and install them to receive the latest patches and fixes.

Here’s how you can update your iPhone:

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > Software Update
    3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
    4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.

    4. Reset Your Settings

There might be a conflict with your system preferences that cause Instagram to launch when making a phone call.

Reset your iPhone’s settings to roll back any changes that may have caused the problem.

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Go to General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Select Reset All Settings and follow the prompts.

How to Disable Video Calls on Instagram?

Disabling calls are only available for verified Instagram accounts. If your account is verified, you can disable calls by doing the following:

    1. Tap on your Profile in the bottom navigation bar.
    2. Now, tap the Menu button in the top right corner and go to Settings
    3. Access the Privacy tab and tap on Video Call
    4. Select either No One or Accounts You Follow

Can we make calls through Instagram?

Yes. Instagram offers regular calls and video calls to all users. From your chat, tap the Phone icon to start a voice call or the Camera icon to initiate a video call.

Do you need a SIM to call on Instagram?

No, you don’t need a SIM to call on Instagram as long as you have an active internet connection. You also need an account to call other Instagram users.

Best solution for phone calls redirecting to Instagram on Reddit?

Most users were able to fix the issue by updating Instagram and iOS. As it turns out, the issue is caused by improper indexing of iOS between updates

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > Software Update
    3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
    4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.

Why doesn’t my iPhone have a call-forwarding option?

If you don’t have call forwarding, your carrier has not provisioned it on your account. Get in touch with your provider and ask them to add it. Keep in mind also that not all carriers support call forwarding, and some of the ones that do don’t let you manage it.

Many users complain that their other devices keep getting disconnected from their iPhone’s hotspots.

This could disrupt your meetings, school activities, work, and other engagements, causing inconvenience.

In this guide, I’m going to show you what to do to get this problem sorted.

    1. Turn Off Low Power Mode

The low power mode feature is the primary cause of this problem.

Since a personal hotspot consumes a lot of battery, low power mode may disable your hotspot, causing other devices to get disconnected.

When sharing your internet, make sure to disable low power mode.

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Tap on Battery
    3. Set the toggle switch next to Low Power Mode to off.
    iphone hotspot keeps getting disconnected

On the other hand, you can also disable/enable low power mode from the Control Center.

    1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Now, tap on Control Center
    3. Tap Customize Controls and select Low Power Mode
    Low Power Mode

Swipe downwards from the upper right corner of your screen to access the Control Center.

    2. Disable Low Data Mode

Low data mode can also affect personal hotspot performance.

This helps save cellular data by limiting the overall network usage of your iPhone. This causes connected devices to have slow and unstable connections.

Here’s how to turn it off:

    1. Launch the Settings app on your device.
    2. After that, tap on Cellular
    3. Open the Cellular Data Options tab.
    4. Find Low Data Mode and turn it off.
    Low Data Mode

    Note

Low data mode is disabled when the toggle switch is not green.

    3. Stay On the Hotspot Screen

You can leave your iPhone on the personal hotspot screen to prevent your hotspot from disconnecting.

While this consumes more power since your screen stays on, it’s a viable option if you need an internet connection ASAP.

Here’s what you need to do:

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Now, tap on Cellular
    3. Tap on Personal Hotspot
    4. Enable the ‘Allow Others to Join’ option.
    iphone hotspot keeps getting disconnected

Stay on this page and use your other devices.

    Note

    • Your iPhone may head up if you leave the screen on while your personal hotspot is enabled.
    • Remove any cases on your iPhone to improve heat dissipation.

On the other hand, you can disable auto-lock on your iPhone:

    1. Access the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Go to Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
    3. Choose Never from the options.

    4. Enable Compatibility

iPhones have a compatibility mode that ensures other devices can connect without issues.

If your other device keeps getting disconnected, enable maximize compatibility on your iPhone.

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Now, go to Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
    3. Enable Maximize Compatibility

Connect to your iPhone’s hotspot again to check if the problem is solved.

    Note

Enabling maximize compatibility switches your frequency to 2.4 GHz, which delivers slower bandwidth.

    5. Update Your iPhone

Outdated or problematic versions of iOS can also cause hotspot issues.

To rule this out, check if a new version of iOS is available for your device and install it to patch bugs and errors.

Here’s how you can update your iPhone:

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > Software Update
    3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
    4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.

    Note

    • Your device can restart several times while installing the update.
    • Ensure your iPhone has at least 50% battery before installing updates. It’s best to keep your device plugged into the wall charger to avoid interruptions.
    • Allow at least 15 minutes for the update to install, especially if it’s a major update (iOS 14 to iOS 15).

To avoid missing future updates, enable automatic updates on your iPhone:

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Go to General > Software Update > Automatic Updates
    3. Enable Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates.

    FAQs

Why does my hotspot keep disconnecting automatically?

Your hotspot keeps disconnecting automatically due to low power mode. This feature automatically limits activities on your iPhone to help save battery, including disabling certain features like personal hotspots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more.

How do I stop my iPhone from disconnecting from the hotspot when locked?

You can disable auto-lock on your iPhone. If auto-lock is set to never, your personal hotspot will stay active even when the screen is turned off for hours.

    1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
    3. Select Never from the options.

How can I make my iPhone hotspot more reliable?

You can improve your iPhone’s hotspot performance by doing the following:

    • Improve cellular reception
    • Switch your hotspot to 5GHz frequency
    • Disable battery saving and data saving on your iPhone
    • Keep your other devices close to the hotspot
    • Eliminate Wi-Fi obstructions and interference

What is the maximum hotspot connections on iPhone?

Apple has no official statement on the maximum number of devices connected to your hotspot. Online sources mentioned a 5 to 10 device limit, with some carriers limiting it to 3. All you can do is connect as many devices as possible to find the limit for your device.

Is iPhone hotspot 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?

iPhones use a 5 GHz connection by default. On iPhone 12 or later, you can turn on maximize compatibility for personal hotspots to use a 2.4 GHz connection. Maximize compatibility might reduce internet performance for devices connected to the hotspot.
