3. Under the ‘Get up and running’ tab, click on Windows Update. 

4. Now, click on Run the Troubleshooter. Wait for the troubleshooter to initialize and follow the prompts to apply the fix it recommends. 

Once done, restart your system and try updating your software again to check if the problem is solved. 

3. Rename the Software Distribution Folder. 

Error 0x80070643 can prevent you from installing Windows updates or other software. It happens when the MSI software update registration or the .NET Framework installation on your computer becomes corrupted.

See the steps below to rename the Software Distribution Folder: 

1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key to open the Start Menu. 
2. Now, look for ‘Command Prompt’ and click on Run as Administrator. 
3. Finally, copy and paste each of the commands below and hit Enter. 

net stop wuauserv

net stop bits

rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak

net start wuauserv

net start bits

Restart your system after executing the command and see if you can now update or install your software. 

4. Clear Catroot2 Folder. 

The Catroor and Catroot2 folders are some of the most important resources on Windows, which are required when updating your system. If you are facing issues updating Windows and receiving the error code 0x80070643, try resetting the Catroot2 folder. 

Here’s what you need to do: 

1. Access the Start Menu and look for Command Prompt. 
2. Now, click on Run as Administrator. 
3. Finally, execute the command below and hit Enter. 

net stop cryptsvc

md %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old

xcopy %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old /s

Once done, delete all the contents of the Catroot2 folder. Go back to CMD, type net start cryptsvc, and hit Enter. 

Try updating your system afterward to check if the problem is solved. 

5. Repair System Files. 

There might be an issue with your system files, causing the installation of Windows Update to fail. To fix this, you can use the built-in System File Checker on Windows to check your resources for missing and corrupted data. 

Check out the steps below to use the SFC scanner: 

1. Go to the Start Menu and look for Command Prompt. 
2. Click on Run as Administrator to run CMD with administrative privileges. 
3. Finally, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter to run the command. 

Once done, reboot your system and see if you’ll still encounter the error code 0x80070643 on Windows.

 

6. Disable Antivirus. 

If you are experiencing problems installing third-party software on your computer, it might have something to do with your antivirus. Some antivirus can get too protective and restrict the installation of legitimate applications and programs. 

To avoid conflict, we recommend turning off your system protection in the meantime while installing your software. 

However, keep in mind that this can leave your system vulnerable to attacks, malware, and viruses. Due to this, we strongly advise that you only install software from trusted sources and developers. 

7. Close Unused Applications. 

Some applications running on your computer might be the reason you encounter the error code 0x80070643 on Windows. If this is the case, we recommend that you close any applications you have when installing programs.

1. First, open the Task Manager by pressing the CTRL + SHIFT + ESC keys on your keyboard.

meet VirtualBox

VirtualBox is one tiny, powerful dude, and it is capable of installing macOS onto your Windows 10 computer as an app.

It works like a charm with Sierra, but before you get onto the guide, there are three little requirements that your Windows 10 computer is going to need in order for you to install the macOS onto your computer.

The minimum requirements that you are going to need are:

•  a 64-Bit Computer

•  at least 4GB RAM

•  a Dual-Core processor

Got all of that? Splendid! Once you have got that out of the way, you can now proceed to install macOS Sierra in VirtualBox on Windows 10.

How to Install macOS Sierra in VirtualBox on Windows 10: 5 Steps

Step 1: Extract the Image File with Winrar or 7zip.

1. The first thing that you should do is go ahead and install WinRAR. (I have included the latest (March 2018) link for WinRAR for you)
2. Once you have done that, right click on the macOS 10.12 Sierra file that you’d downloaded.
3. Then select Extract Here.

Also, make sure that you have enabled Virtualization in your computer’s BIOS.

Step 2: Install VirtualBox

1. Download the latest version of VirtualBox (I have included the latest (June 2018) link for VirtualBox for you above)
2. It’s pretty easy to install VirtualBox. Just keep clicking Next and then Finished and you’re good to go.

Step 3: Create a New Virtual Machine

1. Now you have to create your new Virtual Machine. So what you have to do is, open the VirtualBox you’ve just downloaded.
2. Next click on New which you can see to your upper left-hand side.
3. Sweet! Now all you have to do is follow on by adding each of the below details into each of the fields.

Name:  macOS 10.12 Sierra

Type:  Mac OS X

Version:  Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan (64 bit) or 10.12 Sierra

Memory size is 4 GB ( 70% of your Ram )

Virtual disk file:  macOS 10.12 Sierra.vmdk

Step 4: Edit Your Virtual Machine

1. Once you have created your Virtual Machine, now it’s time to edit it. So first tap on Settings.
2. Then, you should be able to see General to your right-hand side, so put everything into default there.
3. After that, under General, you should be able to see the System. Click that.
4. You’re doing a great job so far! Alright, from here onwards, it’s pretty shit easy. You just have to follow what I selected for each of the fields based on the pictures below.

CPU: Select 2 CPU (you can choose more than 2 if you want but it is entirely according to your CPU) and then enable PAE/NX

System: Now you have to enable EFI and then disable Floppy. Next, make sure you choose the Chipset as IHC9 (you can also choose PIIX3)

Graphics: Set your Video Memory to 128MB

Storage: Finally, choose your macOS 10.12 Sierra.vmdk and make sure that under Attributes, you set the Hard Disk to SATA Port 0. Once done, click OK.

Note

Now close your VirtualBox. Then proceed with the next step.

Step 5: Add Code to VirtualBox with Command Prompt (cmd)

Before you add the code onto VirtualBox with your Command Prompt, you have a few little changes that you have to make things easier for you.

1. Replace the phrase “Your VM Name” in the code (below) with your own virtual machine name which you can find in General, then under Basic. It’s best if you copy the code below into your Notepad and then replace the areas where it says “Your VM Name” with your own virtual machine name before moving on the next step.

Yeah. You gotta give it to Apple.

As much as it sounds hilarious beyond comprehension on why the world’s most innovative company decided to add “High” to Sierra (the predecessor macOS version) it must have taken them a lot of creativity and sleepless nights to come up with that. (if you didn’t know I am being sarcastic btw)

Like really, Apple sounds like one of your older relatives who says “dope” without knowing the multitude of could-be-misunderstood meanings which comes with it.

But aside from all that, High Sierra is not that bad. In the sense, Apple hasn’t really changed what has worked well for their macOS users yet they have paid very close attention to the finer details and idiosyncrasies that have become too stale for us macOS users lately.

It’s not a major upgrade unlike what we first expected it to be off but at least it’s an improvement. So if you want to get macOS High Sierra on your Windows 10 using Virtualbox, then here’s how.

1. Start by pressing Win + i keys to access Windows Settings. 
2. Next, go to Network & Internet.

4. Afterward, scroll down and click on Windows Firewall. 

5. From the Windows Defender Security Center window that appears, click on the Firewall & network protection tab. 
6. Select Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall option.

7. This will open the Allowed apps window. 
8. Now, select the Change Settings button from the top-right corner. 

9. Look for the app you want to allow and check the box for either Public or Private.
