Experiencing overheating issue on Windows 11?

Overheating is a serious concern as it can lead to your device’s hardware damage in the long run.

Unfortunately, many Windows 11 users are experiencing this issue after upgrading to the latest operating system.

There are many factors to consider when your computer overheats, such as, the cooling system may be faulty, the system is infested with malware, and more.

Whichever the case, we’re here to help.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to fix the overheating issue on Windows 11.

Let’s begin!

1. Check Your Cooling System.

When you experience overheating problems on your computer, the first thing to check is the cooling system.

Here’s a list of things to check with your cooling system:

Basic Users

  • Make sure all fans are working.
  • Ensure that the fans are getting proper airflow and any wires or panels do not restrict them.
  • Check and clean your fans to improve airflow.

Advanced Users / Enthusiasts

  • If you know your way around computers, check the cooler and ensure it is properly seated against the CPU.
  • Check the thermal paste and make sure that the right amount is applied.

After checking these things, your computer should run without issues. If it still overheats, there might be a problem with your software.

2. Manage Your Applications.

Applications on your computer could be consuming system resources in the background. This can cause the CPU to work harder than usual and heat up.

Excessive background applications can also cause your system to slow down or overheat even on idle.

Here’s how you can manage your apps:

  1. On your keyboard, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to open the Task Manager
  2. Go to the Processes tab and click on CPU. This should sort your apps based on their CPU usage.
  3. Identify the apps that you are not using and close them.

  1. Now, go to the Startup tab.
  2. Click Startup Impact to sort your apps based on their impact during boot.
  3. Select the applications you don’t need to start automatically and disable them.

Use your computer for a few minutes to check if you’ll still encounter overheating issues.

3. Restart Your Computer.

A temporary bug or glitch may have occurred on your system and caused problems with power management.

To rule this out, restart your computer to reload system resources. This should clear corrupted data from the system memory.

Follow the steps below to restart your computer:

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. In the Start Menu, click on the Power Options tab.
  3. Choose Restart from the options.

Wait for your computer to boot and check if the problem is solved.

4. Update Your System.

Windows 11 is quite new and still needs optimizations to run efficiently. If you haven’t updated your computer for a while, try doing so to improve its overall performance.

See the steps below to update Windows 11:

  1. First, press Windows + I on your keyboard to open Windows Settings
  2. After that, click on Windows Update in the side menu.
  3. Click on Check for Updates
Update System
  1. If an update is available, click Download and Install and follow the prompts.

Note

If you are using a laptop, make sure that you have at least 50% battery before updating your system to avoid issues.

Proceed with your normal workflow and observe if you’ll still encounter overheating issues on Windows 11.

5. Scan for Virus and Malware.

Your system could be infected with a virus or malware. Computer viruses consume system resources, resulting in poor performance and overheating.

If you’re using third-party antivirus, perform a full system scan to remove viruses.

You can also use Windows Defender to remove malware and viruses from your computer.

  1. Open the Start Menu and find Windows Defender
  2. Now, click on Virus & Threat Protection
  3. Click the Quick Scan option and follow the prompts.
Scan Virus

Wait for the scan to complete and follow the suggested actions by Windows Defender to remove viruses and malicious files.

To avoid problems in the future, avoid downloading files and software from untrusted sources.

6. Limit Background Apps.

If you still experience overheating issues on Windows 11, try limiting applications that can run in the background.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open Windows Settings by pressing the Windows + I keys
  2. After that, click on Apps in the side menu.
  3. Now, access the Apps & Features tab.
  4. Identify the applications that you don’t need in the background.
  5. Click on the vertical dots beside the app and select Advanced Options

  1. Repeat this process for other applications.

Try running various applications afterward to check if your computer would still overheat.

7. Check Minimum Processor State Settings.

In normal situations, your CPU should throttle down when there’s less load on your system. This happens when your computer is idling or when running light applications.

However, if the minimum processor state settings were changed, your CPU can continue running at higher clock speeds.

To verify this, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Windows icon in the Taskbar to open the Start Menu
  2. Next, look for the Control Panel and open it.
  3. Go to System and Security > Power Options

  1. Click the Windows icon in the Taskbar to open the Start Menu
  2. Next, look for the Control Panel and open it.
  3. Under Programs, click on Uninstall a Program
  4. Identify the applications you don’t need.

Can’t figure out why your Windows 11 computer won’t wake up from sleep when moving the mouse or pressing the keyboard?

Windows 11 introduced several changes and overhauled the entire experience of our favorite operating system. However, it does come with its own issues.

As a new software, occasional errors, and problems are expected to come up.

Recently, users have been complaining that their computers won’t wake up from sleep. This gives them no choice but to force restart their computers and potentially lose unsaved files and documents.

Sleep Computer

Today, we’ll show you how to resolve this problem on your Windows 11 computer.

Let’s jump right in!

1. Reconnect Your Devices.

The most common way to solve this issue is to reconnect your peripherals. If force restarting is not an option since you have unsaved progress, disconnecting the mouse or keyboard for a few seconds might work.

  1. Unplug the USB cable for your mouse or keyboard.
  2. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect your mouse or keyboard.

Try pressing any keys or moving the mouse to see if your computer will wake up.

2. Check Your Configurations.

There’s an option on Windows 11 that allows you to decide whether your keyboard or mouse can wake up your computer.

If the feature is disabled, it explains why your computer won’t wake up when moving the mouse or pressing the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to check your settings:

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start Menu
  2. Look for the Device Manager and open it.

  1. Expand the Keyboards tab and right-click on your device.
  2. Now, select Properties

  1. Go to the Power Management tab.
  2. Ensure that ‘Allow this Device to Wake the Computer’ is enabled.
  3. Click OK to save the changes.

  1. Do the same thing for the mouse.
  2. Restart your system.

Put your computer to sleep and see if you can wake it up using the mouse or keyboard.

3. Update Your Drivers.

Device drivers allow your system to control the hardware installed on your computer.

If your mouse and keyboard drivers are corrupted, you can encounter issues with the wake function.

To rule this out, follow the guide below to update your drivers:

  1. Open the Start Menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. After that, look for Device Manager and open it.

  1. Inside, expand the Keyboards tab.
  2. Right-click on your device and choose Update Driver

  1. Repeat the same steps for your mouse.
  2. Once done, reboot your system.

Try using your mouse and keyboard to wake up your computer afterward.

4. Don’t Turn Off USB Ports.

Your computer can stop supplying power to the USB ports to save power. When this happens, you won’t be able to use them to wake your computer from sleep.

To avoid this, don’t allow your system to cut off power to the USB ports.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press Windows + X on your keyboard to open the Quick Menu
  2. Next, click on Device Manager
Open Device Manager
  1. Expand the Universal Serial Bus tab.
  2. Right-click on an entry and go to Properties
USB Properties
  1. Go to Power Management
  2. Turn off the option “Allow the computer to Turn off this device to save power”.
  3. Click OK to save the changes.
Power Management
  1. Repeat the process for the other USB entries on the list.

Put your computer to sleep and check if the problem is solved.

5. Change Power Plan.

The “power saver” power plan lets your system turn off the USB ports while sleeping. This will prevent your computer from recognizing your mouse and keyboard, explaining why you can’t wake it up.

To prevent this, change your power plan to balanced or high performance.

Follow the steps below to guide you through the process:

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start Menu
  2. Look for Power Plan and click on Choose a Power Plan.

  1. Select High Performance or Balanced

Once done, check if you can wake your Windows 11 computer using your mouse and keyboard.

6. Update Windows.

If your Windows 11 computer still doesn’t wake up from sleep, you can try updating your operating system.

This should patch possible bugs or errors that prevent your computer from waking up from sleep.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press Windows + I on your keyboard to open Windows Settings
  2. Now, click on Windows Update from the side menu.
  3. Click on Check for Updates.
  4. Follow the prompts to install the update.

Want to hide the taskbar on Windows 11?

Customizability is what most users love about Windows. This allows you to layout everything you need the way you want it, which will certainly boost your productivity.

If you have been customizing your operating system for a long time, you may have realized by now that Windows 11 has a smaller screen real estate due to the redesigned taskbar.

Fortunately, you can take some back by hiding the taskbar. This should allow applications to run in full screen and give you space below the screen for third-party widgets.

Learn multiple methods on how to hide the taskbar on Windows 11 through this guide.

1. Windows Auto Hide Feature.

The auto-hide option for the taskbar is still available on Windows 11. You can access the option from the Settings or tweak it using Command Prompt.

To enable auto-hide from the Settings app, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click anywhere on your Taskbar
  2. Click on Taskbar Settings
Taskbar Settings
  1. Now, find Taskbar Behaviors and expand it.
Taskbar Behaviors
  1. Look for Automatically Hide the Taskbar and mark it checked.

Regardless of what option you choose, the auto-hide taskbar feature should now be enabled on your computer.

To access the Taskbar, hover your cursor at the bottom portion of your screen.

2. SmartTaskbar.

SmartTaskbar is an open-source tool that can automatically hide the taskbar when you open full-screen applications.

Although the auto-hide option works fine, it can be annoying to repeatedly invoke the Taskbar when your cursor gets too close from the bottom of the screen.

Here’s how you can use the SmartTaskbar:

  1. Click on the Windows icon on the Taskbar to open Start Menu
  2. Find Microsoft Store and click Open
Microsoft Store
  1. Now, search for SmartTaskbar

  • Animations in the Taskbar – This option allows you to control the animation used when showing and hiding your taskbar.
  • Auto-Mode – This option is enabled by default. It automatically hides your taskbar when you have a full-screen app on the screen. You can disable it if you wish to manually enable SmartTaskbar.
  • Show the Taskbar After Exit – This option allows you to control whether the taskbar stays hidden after closing a full-screen app.

Note

Double-clicking on the SmartTaskbar icon in your taskbar will toggle Auto-Mode On/Off.

3. Hide Taskbar Permanently.

If you want to hide your taskbar permanently, you’ll have a few third-party tools at your disposal.

Auto Hotkey

This is a keyboard mapper and macro creator that can use custom scripts. You can use this tool to hide the taskbar on Windows 11.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. First, download AutoHotkey on your computer.
  2. Go to your Downloads folder and run the installer. Follow the prompts to install AutoHotkey
  3. Now, download the script file below:
  1. Extract the file and run it on our computer.

Using Registry Editor

If you are not comfortable installing third-party applications on your computer, you can use the Registry Editor to disable or hide the taskbar on Windows 11.

However, you won’t have the option to instantly unhide the taskbar if you go for this option.

Here’s how you can hide the taskbar using Registry Editor:

  1. Press Windows + R on your keyboard to open Run Command
  2. Now, type regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor.

  1. Enter this path on the address bar in Registry Editor:

Note

  • Make sure not to delete or edit other entries in the Registry Editor as this can corrupt your system.
  • If you have no experience navigating the Registry Editor, we highly suggest that you stick with the other methods above.

That’s everything you need to know on how to hide the taskbar on Windows 11. If you have questions, please let us know in the comment section, and we’ll do our best to answer them.

Wondering how to fix Error opening file for writing error on Windows 11?

While Microsoft Store is the best way to download and install applications on your Windows 11 PCs, you wouldn’t always find the desired apps there.

Hence, you’ll need to download some directly from the internet.

Though it’s a very common practice, some Windows users have reportedly encountered the Error opening file for writing pop-up when attempting to run the setup wizard.

In that case, you won’t be able to run the third-party program setup, let alone use it. But don’t fret. We’ll discuss some of the most effective solutions for the stated issue below.

So without any delay, let’s jump straight in!

1. Re-Download the Setup File.

The first and basic fix is to download the setup file again. This error can occur if the setup file was not downloaded completely at the first attempt. When re-downloading the file, remember to select a different location for its download. Moreover, ensure you’ve selected the correct software version for your computer.

2. Run the Setup Wizard As Administrator.

Another effective fix for the Error opening file for writing error is to run the Setup Wizard as administrator. This will give the installer the permission to write files that are needed for the software installation.

Follow the steps below to run the installer with administrative rights:

  1. Locate the setup file on your computer.
  2. Right-click on it and choose Run as administrator from the context menu.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation, then check to see if the issue is resolved.

3. Ensure No Other Installation Is In Progress.

If there are multiple programs under installation at the same time, it may cause the Error opening file for writing error. Therefore, to ensure there aren’t several installations in progress, launch the Task Manager and check whether it shows any other installation in progress.

4. Change the Standard User Account to Admin.

There is a high possibility the Error opening file for writing error occurs in a non-admin account rather than one with admin permissions. If this is the case, then changing your standard account with limited rights to an admin one will resolve this issue.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. To begin, launch the Control Panel on your computer, then select User Accounts.
  2. From there, click on the Change account type link.
user account
  1. Select Administrator and click on Change Account Type to apply the changes.

Now, check to see if any error occurs upon installing the program.

5. Change the Installation Directory.

Usually, Windows automatically selects a download location for the application you’re installing. If there is any issue with the chosen installation directory, you will likely encounter this error. So, to avoid this issue, select a different drive as the installation location by selecting the Browse option. Then, check to see if the error occurs.

6. Run the Compatibility Troubleshooter.

Another possible reason for this error to occur is the incompatibility of the application with your Windows version. If this is the reason, then it can be resolved with the help of the Compatibility Troubleshooter. This built-in tool will fix any compatibility issues within an application.

To run the Compatibility Troubleshooter Program, follow the steps below:

  1. Begin by right-clicking on the installer to access its context menu.

  3. Then, go to the Compatibility tab.
  4. There, click on the Run compatibility troubleshooter button.

Afterward, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

7. Use Disk Cleanup to Delete Temporary Files.

Sometimes corrupted data on temporary files may cause the Error opening file for writing error to appear. To get rid of this issue, we suggest deleting the temporary files. You can do this by using the Disk Cleanup tool.

Follow the steps outlined below to do so:

  1. To start, search for Disk Cleanup in the Start Menu and click Open.
  2. Select which files to delete in the Files to delete section.

This error can also occur if the security settings of the installation file do not extend full permission. To resolve this issue, you will need to modify the security settings of the installation file. Simply create a new everyone user group with full control permission.

Here’s how you can do it.

  1. Begin by pressing the Windows key + E on your keyboard to launch File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the directory that contains the problematic installation file.
  3. Right-click on the file and choose Properties from its context menu.
  4. Then, go to the Security tab.

Perform the following steps to turn off User Account Control:

  1. Firstly, type ‘change user account control settings’ in Windows search and click on Open.
  2. In the window that appears, move the slider down to Never notify.
  3. Click on OK to confirm your action.

After that, restart your computer to successfully apply the changes.

10. Disable Controlled Folder Access.

Controlled Folder Access is another Windows security feature that ensures no modifications are made to protected folders by third-party applications. If this feature is enabled, it will prevent unauthorized access from making any changes, resulting in the stated error.

However, if it is a reliable app, you can disable the Controlled Folder Access feature and eliminate the issue. Here’s how to disable it:

  1. In Windows search, type ‘windows security’ and click Open to launch it.
  2. From the left pane, go to Virus & threat protection.
  3. On the right side, click on Manage settings under Virus & threat protection settings.

Is Windows 11 stuck in dark mode on your computer?

In 2016, Microsoft added dark mode on Windows 10. This is a system-wide feature that turns white backgrounds to black, reducing eye strain.

Dark mode is available on Windows 11 out of the box. Now, you’d think that it is implemented better compared to previous versions. Sadly, this is not the case.

windows 11 stuck in dark mode

In this guide, we’re going to show you some tips on how to fix Windows 11 if it’s stuck in dark mode.

Let’s begin!

1. Check Your Settings.

Before anything, check if you’ve actually disabled dark mode on your computer. It’s possible that the feature is still enabled on your system.

Here’s how you can check your settings:

  1. Press Windows + I on your keyboard to open Windows Settings
  2. Now, go to the Personalization tab in the left-hand menu.
  3. Look for the Colors tab and open it.
  4. Click on Choose Your Mode and select Light
Change Theme

Your window tabs should automatically switch from a black to white background.

2. Restart Windows Explorer.

Windows Explorer is the graphical user interface of Windows 11. Without it, you’ll need to use the command line to open applications, manage files, and more.

If your computer is stuck in dark mode, restart Windows Explorer. This should refresh the user interface and apply the changes you’ve made with color mode.

See the steps below to restart Windows Explorer:

  1. On your keyboard, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to open Task Manager
  2. Now, go to the Processes tab.
  3. Find Windows Explorer from the list and select it.
  4. Click Restart. Your user interface should disappear for a few seconds and come back.
Task Manager Windows 11

Note

Make sure that dark mode is actually disabled before restarting Windows Explorer

Access Windows Settings to check if your system is now in light mode.

3. Restart Windows.

If restarting Windows Explorer doesn’t work, try restarting your entire system. This should apply recent changes to your configurations, including your color mode settings.

Here’s how you can restart Windows:

  1. Click on the Windows icon in the Taskbar to open the Start Menu
  2. Now, access the Power Options tab.
  3. Choose Restart from the pop-up menu.
Restart Windows 11

Check if your Windows 11 computer is still stuck in dark mode after the restart.

4. Check Third-Party Apps.

There are third-party tools, like Auto Dark Mode, that automatically enable dark mode. With these tools, you don’t have to worry about switching dark mode on and off.

However, you’ll find some instances where you want to disable dark mode at night.

If you have an auto dark mode tool, it can prevent you from manually changing your color mode on Windows.

In this case, you’ll need to disable any tool that controls dark mode first. Now, you can head to Windows Settings to manually disable dark mode.

5. Disable High Contrast Mode.

High contrast mode is a feature that applies a limited color palette to your user interface. This is what we call ‘dark mode’ way back in Windows XP days.

Now, this feature is called contrast themes and it’s available in the accessibility option.

This overrules your current color mode. If the feature is enabled, you won’t notice any changes when switching between light and dark mode.

Follow the steps below to disable high contrast mode:

  1. Open Windows Settings by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard.
  2. Now, click on Accessibility > Contrast Themes
  3. Click on the drop down list and choose None
windows 11 stuck in dark mode

Upon selecting ‘none’, you should immediately notice a change on Windows Settings background.

6. Update Windows.

The version of Windows you’re using might have a bug or error that is related to dark mode. To rule this out, check for software updates to patch potential issues with your system.

Here’s how you can check for Windows updates:

  1. First, press Windows + I on your keyboard to access Windows Settings
  2. Open the Windows Update tab from the side menu.
  3. Click on Check for Updates
  4. If there’s an available update, click Download and Install

After installing the software update, see if your interface is still stuck in dark mode.

7. Run SFC.

There might be a problem with your system files related to the user interface.  This can cause various issues , like Windows 11 getting stuck in dark mode.

Luckily, Windows has a tool that automatically scans for file errors and repairs them.

See the steps below to repair your system files:

  1. Go to the Start Menu and look for Command Prompt
  2. Click on Run as Administrator
  3. Inside CMD, type ‘sfc /scannow’ and hit Enter to run the command. After running the scan, you’ll see a message indicating if the tool found any problems.
SFC Scan
  1. Run the Deployment Image Servicing tool afterward to repair corrupted and missing files.
  2. Inside CMD, run the following commands one by one.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart your system afterward to check if the problem is solved.

8. Contact Microsoft.

If none of the solutions above worked, the last thing you can do is ask for assistance from the experts.

Visit Microsoft’s support page and look up the issue you’re experiencing. The site should recommend troubleshooting tips that you can try to solve the problem.

If the suggested solutions did not work here’s what you need to do:

  1. Click on the Contact Support button.

Experiencing MSINFO32 Utility not opening on Windows 11?

MSINFO32 is a system utility program useful for diagnosing hardware or software-related issues.

This tool contains crucial information regarding your computer system, such as model number, OS version, driver locations, and services running in the background.

However, sometimes the MSINFO32 utility tool is inaccessible on your computer for several reasons, including outdated drivers or damaged system files.

But, this issue can be fixed via some troubleshooting solutions mentioned in this guide. After identifying the main cause behind this issue, you can opt for any of the methods given below.

So, let’s begin!

1. Re-Sign Into Windows.

The first step to fixing the MSINFO32 tool not opening on Windows 11 is by signing out of your Microsoft account. This will close all the programs running in the background and refresh the system, deleting any data responsible for the issue.

Here’s how to re-sign into Windows:

  1. To get started, right-click on the Start menu.
  2. Then, hover your cursor over Shut down or sign out.
  3. Then choose Sign out. Windows will then sign you out of your account.

Once on the lock screen, enter your passcode or use fingerprint or facial recognition to log back in.

2. Restart Your PC.

Restarting your computer refreshes all processes, enabling you to troubleshoot the problem and gain access to MSINFO32. This method clears any conflicting data or glitches causing the error and helps resolve software-related issues.

To restart your PC, follow the steps below:

  1. Firstly, go to the Start menu.
  2. Then, click on the power icon.
  3. From the pop-up options, choose Restart.

Wait for the system to boot up again, then check if the issue is resolved.

3. Update Windows.

Another fix to MSINFO32 utility tools not opening on Windows 11 is ensuring your computer system and all its components are up to date. By updating Windows to its latest version, you can fix any bugs or applications causing the issue.

Follow the instructions below to update Windows:

  1. To start, go to Settings by pressing the Windows key + i on your keyboard.
  2. Then, go to the Windows Update tab from the left pane.
  3. On the right side, click on Check for updates.
MSINFO32 Utility Not Opening on Windows 11
  1. Wait for Windows to fetch any available updates, then click on Install now to begin the process.

If no new update is available, it means your OS is already up-to-date with the latest compatible version.

4. Run the Windows Management Instrumentation Service.

As the MSINFO32 utility program relies on the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service to collect system information, you must ensure it is running. This service facilitates the management of communication between various applications and their access to system resources.

If this service is disabled, MSINFO32 will not be accessible. Therefore, to run the WMI service, perform the following steps:

  1. Begin by pressing Windows key + R to access the Run utility.
  2. Type ‘services.msc’ in the given field and hit OK.
  3. Scroll down to Windows Management Instrumentation service, right-click on it, and choose Properties.
  4. Set the Startup type to Automatic and ensure the service is running. If not, click on the Start button.
MSINFO32 Utility Not Opening on Windows 11
  1. Click on Apply and then OK to save the changes.

Restart your computer afterward before checking whether the problem is eliminated.

5. Repair the Windows Management Instrumentation Service.

If you cannot run the WMI service, it is likely due to the corruption of the WMI repository. This repository serves as a storage system for data and information related to WMI classes. By repairing or rebuilding the WMI service, you can help restore its functionality and gain access to the MSINFO32 utility.

Perform the following steps to repair the WMI service:

  1. Begin by typing ‘cmd’ in Windows Search and clicking on Run as administrator.
MSINFO32 Utility Not Opening on Windows 11
  1. Click Yes on the UAC prompt.
  2. Then, execute the following command to first stop the WMI service:
net stop winmgmt
  1. Next, reset the WMI repository by running the following command:
winmgmt /resetrepository
  1. Finally, restart the WMI service by executing the following command:
net start winmgmt

Remember that this method will also stop other services dependent on WMI, which will only restart when you do it manually.

6. Re-register the Windows Management Instrumentation Components.

If the above methods do not work in opening the MSINFO32 utility, it may be due to damaged or missing WMI components. This can be fixed by re-registering the WMI components and returning them to their default values.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. To start, launch Command Prompt with administrator privileges.
  2. Now run the following commands one by one:
cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem
for %i in (*.dll) do RegSvr32 -s %i
for %i in (*.exe) do %i /RegServer

Exit the Command Prompt afterward and check if the issue is gone.

7. Perform a Clean Boot.

Performing a clean boot is an effective troubleshooting fix as it disables all third-party apps and non-essential services running. Hence if you cannot access the MSINFO32 utility due to a third-party program or a conflicting service, performing a clean boot will help identify the cause and resolve the issue.

To perform a clean boot, follow the steps given below:

  1. In Windows Search, type ‘System Configuration’ and click Open.
  2. Go to the Services tab.
  3. There, check the Hide all Microsoft services option and click on Disable All.

  1. A pop-up box will appear. Click on Restart to apply changes to your computer.

If your computer works fine afterward, a third-party application probably interferes with your system. In that case, re-enable services for each app one by one until you spot the culprit.

8. Temporarily Disable Antivirus Program.

Another reason behind the MSINFO32 utility program not opening on Windows 11 is an antivirus program. It may be possible that the built-in Windows Defender has flagged the MSINFO32 utility as a threat, preventing its access. Hence, temporarily disabling such antivirus programs can be an effective troubleshooting solution.

Follow the steps mentioned below to disable Windows Defender:

  1. Open Windows Settings and go to the Privacy & security tab.
  2. From there, click on Windows Security.
  3. Then, choose Virus & threat protection

Run the repair scans in the following way:

  1. Type ‘cmd’ in Windows Search and click on Run as administrator.
  2. Click Yes on the User Account Control pop-up.
  3. Then, paste the following command and hit Enter to execute the SFC scan:

command prompt
  1. Next, run the following command for the DISM scan:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Afterward, restart your PC, then try accessing the MSINFO32 utility again.

10. Uninstall Previous Windows Updates.

If this issue has occurred after the installation of the latest Windows update, the update may contain some errors or bugs, resulting in the inaccessibility of the MSINFO32 utility. To fix this issue, simply uninstall the previous Windows update and reinstall it sometime later if needed.

Here’s how to uninstall the previous Windows update:

  1. First, launch the Settings app and go to Windows Update.
  2. Then, click on Update history.
  3. Scroll down and go to Uninstall updates.
update history
  1. Lastly, click on the Uninstall option next to the conflicting update to resolve the issue.

Confirm your action if prompted to begin the process.

11. Perform a System Restore.

The last resort to fixing the MSINFO32 utility program not opening on Windows 11 if none of the fixes mentioned above work is performing a system restore. This will bring your computer Windows back to its earlier working state and remove any processes or programs from that point onwards.

Remember that you can perform this method only if System Restore was enabled on your computer.

Need to fix the shutdown box keeps popping up on Windows 11?

The Windows shutdown box allows users to shut down, sign out, switch users, and put their computers to sleep. This shortcut appears by pressing the Alt + F4 keys.

However, many users have reported the issue of the shutdown box randomly appearing after installing Windows 11.

This ruins the user experience and also interferes with a smooth operating system. There are various causes behind this error, including software bugs, errors in the Windows version, or damaged system files.

This problem can be resolved by any of the troubleshooting fixes mentioned in our guide.

So, let’s begin!

1. Restart Your Computer.

Before diving into other technical troubleshooting steps, the first basic fix to any software-related issue is simply restarting your PC. Performing a system reboot closes any conflicting apps causing the issue and gives the opening system a fresh restart.

Here’s how to restart your computer:

  1. Go to the Start menu and click on the Power icon
  2. Then, choose Shut down
shut down windows 11
  1. After your PC shuts down, press the Power button to restart it.

This should fix the issue you’re facing. If not, move to the next method from this guide.

2. Perform Repair Scans.

Damaged, corrupt or missing system files can also cause the shutdown box to pop up randomly. Running repair scans such as SFC and DISM can help detect corrupt files and replace them and check for bugs causing errors. Hence, by performing these scans, you can fix the shutdown box keeps popping up issue.

Here are the steps you must follow:

  1. Click on the Start menu and type in ‘Command Prompt’ in the search bar.
  2. Next, select Run as administrator to open an elevated Command Prompt
  3. Paste the following command to run the SFC scan and press the Enter key:
sfc /scannow
sfc scan windows 11
  1. Once done, copy and paste the following commands one by one and hit the Enter key after each:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
dism scan windows 11

Finally, reboot your PC, and the shutdown box shouldn’t appear anymore.

3. Scan For Malware Attacks.

Sometimes, malware performing malicious actions can lead to various issues such as this one. For this reason, it is best to perform a system scan and check for any malware attack that may be the culprit. You can easily scan your PC using the built-in Windows Defender.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Head over to the Start menu and type in ‘Windows Security’ in the search bar at the top.
  2. Then, select the same from the search results.
  3. Click on Virus & threat protection and select Scan options
  4. Choose Full scan from the given options.
  5. After that, click on Scan now

  1. Once the scan is complete, Windows will inform you if any threats are found. You may then take necessary actions to remove these threats to fix the issue.

4. Update Windows OS.

An error in the current version of Windows 11 installed on your computer can lead to the shutdown box keeps popping up issue. This problem can be resolved by simply updating your current Windows OS with the latest version to eliminate any bugs in the previous one.

Follow the steps below to update Windows OS:

  1. Go to Windows Settings by pressing Win + i keys from your keyboard.
  2. From the left pane, select Windows Update
  3. Now, click on the Check for updates button to allow your PC to fetch any pending updates.

  1. If you find that there’s one available, simply download and install them on your PC.

Once the latest OS version is installed, restart your PC and check if that solves the problem. Otherwise, follow the next method from this guide.

5. Run System Maintenance Troubleshooter.

Windows packs various tools built into the settings and command-line services to diagnose and resolve most issues with only a click. The System Maintenance Troubleshooter is one of them. So run the utility and check if that resolves the issue.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Click on the Start menu and enter ‘control panel’ in the search bar.
  2. Press the Enter key to launch the Control Panel
  3. From the top-right corner, click on the drop-down menu next to View by and choose Large icons

  1. At last, reboot your PC to see if the troubleshooter has detected and fixed your problem.

6. Uninstall Conflicting Programs.

Another cause for the shutdown box to keep popping up error may be incompatible programs. Certain apps can interfere with the operating system’s functioning, resulting in this error.

To uninstall any conflicting application responsible for the issue, you must first identify it. Then, uninstall the incompatible app by following the steps below:

  1. From Windows Settings, click on Apps from the left pane.
  2. Next, select Installed apps
  3. Locate the problematic app and select the three vertical dots next to it.
  4. Finally, click on Uninstall and confirm your action by clicking on Uninstall again.

The shutdown box keeps popping up on Windows 11 issue should be fixed now.

7. Uninstall Recent Windows Updates.

If you started experiencing the stated issue after recently upgrading your system, the problem might lie in the installed Windows OS. In that case, your best shot may be to uninstall the problematic update to fix the issue.

Here’s what you must do:

  1. Launch Settings by pressing Win + i keys
  2. Next, click on Windows Update from the left sidebar.
  3. Under the More options section, click on Update history
  4. Scroll down and choose Uninstall updates

  1. Now, select the most recent update and click on Uninstall
  2. Lastly, reboot your PC to see if the shutdown box still appears or not.

8. Perform a Clean Boot.

Running your system in a clean boot state can help diagnose whether the problem is due to third-party app interference, background processes, or conflicting services. This method works by disabling all services temporarily and not allowing any programs to run at startup.

Below are the instructions you must follow:

  1. Press the Win + R keys to open the Run command box.
  2. Type in ‘msconfig’ in the search field and press the Enter key
  3. Go to the Services tab from the top.
  4. Then, check the box next to Hide all Microsoft services and select Disable all

  1. Now, go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager
  2. Choose each third-party startup app and click on Disable from the top bar.
  3. Head over to the Boot tab from the System Configuration window and check the box for Safe boot

  1. Finally, click on Apply and OK to enter into Safe Boot.

If the shutdown box doesn’t pop up in the Safe Boot mode, a third-party app was the main culprit. Simply uninstall the recently installed apps to resolve the problem.

9. Perform a System Restore.

If a recent change within the computer’s settings, installed update, or a program is the culprit behind the shutdown box that keeps popping up on your screen, this is your last resort. When you perform a system restore, your computer is returned to a restore point saved earlier, and all the changes made afterward are discarded.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the Search bar from the bottom, enter ‘create a restore point’, and select it from the results.
  2. After that, click on System Restore
system restore in system properties
  1. From the System Restore window that appears, choose Next.
system restore windows 11
  1. Select Choose a different restore point and click on Next
  2. Now, click on a restore point from the list and select Next
  3. Click on Finish to restore your PC to this point.

Remember, you can only follow this method if you’ve enabled System Restore for your drives.

Is Hogwarts Legacy crashing on Windows 11?

Hogwarts Legacy is a game inspired by the events from the Harry Potter novels. The game is available on multiple platforms, including Windows.

Unfortunately, the game is not running as expected on Windows 11.

Since the game was released, users have been experiencing random crashes while playing Hogwarts Legacy on PC.

Most of the time, incompatible system specifications cause Hogwarts Legacy to crash. However, it can also be due to corrupted drivers and improper configurations.

In this guide, we will show you how to fix Hogwarts Legacy if it’s crashing on Windows 11.

Let’s jump right in!

1. Check System Requirements.

If you’ve just installed Hogwarts Legacy, you might want to check if your system can handle the game.

Like any game or software, Hogwarts Legacy requires a minimum specification to smoothly.

ComponentMinimum Specifications
OS64-bit Windows 10 operating system
ProcessorIntel Core i5-6600 (3.3Ghz) or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (3.2Ghz)
Memory16GB RAM

Sadly, there’s nothing you can do if your system does not meet the minimum requirement.

Upgrading your CPU, graphics card, and RAM is the only way to stop Hogwarts Legacy from crashing.

    2. Restart Your Computer.

If you encounter performance issues while playing Hogwarts Legacy, try restarting your computer.

Play Hogwarts Legacy afterward to check if the problem is solved.

    8. Reinstall Hogwarts Legacy.

If none of the solutions above worked, reinstall the game on your computer.
