Wondering why you can’t accept updated iCloud terms and conditions on your Mac or iPhone?

Now, you’re stuck with a notification on your Mac or iPhone that just won’t go away.

And if you like your interface clean, it can be annoying to see that notification that you can’t do anything about.

In this guide, we will show you what to do if you can’t accept the updated iCloud terms and conditions on your device.

Let’s get started!

1. Restart Your Device.

Before doing anything, try restarting your device first if something isn’t working right. This should allow your system to reload its resources.

Restarting your Mac or iPhone should also clear corrupted data from the system memory, which can cause problems.

If you’re on a Mac, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen.
  2. Now, choose Restart from the drop-down menu.
  3. Confirm your action by clicking Restart in the dialog box.

  1. Hold down the Volume Down button and Side button until the ‘Slide to Power Off’ prompt appears.
  2. Now, drag the slider to the right and wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Press the Side button afterward to turn on your device.

2. Check Apple’s Servers.

An issue with Apple’s servers can also cause this issue on your device. Since you are accepting new terms for iCloud, the process may fail if there’s an issue with the servers.

To confirm this, visit Apple’s system status page to check if there are problems with iCloud or related services.

Since server-related issues can’t be addressed on your end, the only thing you can do for now is wait.

On the other hand, you can head to the next step if there’s nothing wrong with Apple’s system.

3. Update Your Software.

The version of iOS or macOS you’re using might have a problem that prevents you from accepting the updated terms and conditions.

To rule this out, see if there’s an available update for your device and install it. This should patch possible bugs and errors.

If you’re using an iPhone:

  1. Launch Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Now, go to General > Software Update
Software Update iPhone
  1. If there’s an available update, tap on Download and Install

  • Your device can restart several times while installing the update.
  • Make sure that your iPhone has at least 50% battery before installing updates. It’s best to keep your device plugged into the wall charger to avoid interruptions.
  • Allow at least 15 minutes for the update to install, especially if it’s a major update (iOS 14 to iOS 15).

For Mac users:

  1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen.

4. Accept Terms from Settings.

If you’re trying to accept the updated terms from the notification prompt, we suggest doing it from settings.

Although this might not work for every user, there’s nothing wrong with trying it on your end.

For Mac users:

  1. First, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen.
  2. Click on System Preferences
Apple Menu
  1. Now, access the Internet Accounts tab.

  1. The issue is that the version of iCloud Terms and Conditions is that the are not current so accepting them is insufficient.
Contact Apple support and they can update the “iCloud Terms and Conditions” and they they can be accepted. I had to go past the chat to a phone call to get that resolved.
