If you prefer a video over following written instructions, then check out the useful video by Roku which shows how you can do it:

Does it matter which Roku device you get?

No. It doesn’t really matter which Roku streaming device you have since all of the Roku models will work with YouTube TV. This means if you have a Roku Ultra, Roku Streaming Stick(+), Roku Express(+), Roku Premiere(+), Roku 4 and Roku 3. All Roku TVs are compatible with the YouTube TV app.

This is officially stated by both Roku and YouTube (Google). However, since more and more services are supporting 4K streaming starting from the year 2020, you will want to future-proof your Roku for it especially if you’ve already got a 4K TV.

Our recommendation: Roku Ultra

Roku Ultra on AmazonRoku Ultra supports 4K HDR movies and TV shows all at just a cost of $89. It works great to stream Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ or if you have content from Google Play Movies and TV. The device also comes with support for headphones, remote finder, gaming buttons, headphone jack as well as microSD/USB/Ethernet ports, all of which are inclusive. Most importantly it’s support for Ethernet 10/100 which is lacklustre on the other models allows it stream content at faster and smoother without much delay.

Are you planning to watch live TV, but YouTube TV servers are down at the moment?

YouTube TV is one of the latest offerings of Google, which allows users to stream premium TV channels online for a lower price. After its release in 2017, YouTube TV has gained over 2 million subscribers in Q4 of 2019.

With the number of users steadily growing, Google is doing everything it can to prepare its servers for more users in the future. However, occasional downtimes and errors still occur on the platform, which is inevitable for most websites and applications.

Most of the time, problems on YouTube TV’s servers are only fixable on their end, but there are known remedies to do on your side that can alleviate issues on the platform.

Today, we’re going to show you a few tips and tricks that you can do if YouTube TV servers are down.

Let’s begin!

1. Check YouTube TV’s Servers.

The first thing you should do if YouTube TV is not working is to check their servers’ status. You can use third-party websites like Downdetector to view the current status of YouTube TV and the issues it has encountered for the last 24 hours.

You can also visit YouTube’s official Twitter page, where they post updates and news regarding the platform.

After confirming that YouTube TV’s servers are down, proceed to the listed methods below to address the issue.

2. Turn Off VPN.

VPNs or virtual private networks are services that provide security on your local network. It masks your IP address and filters the data going out of your device to prevent hackers and other entities from using it.

However, this process can disrupt your network connection and cause delays. If YouTube TV is not working, try to disable your VPN first and see if the problem goes away.

You can also check our guide in fixing YouTube TV videos that keep on buffering if you cannot stream live TV on your device.

3. Restart Your Device.

If the YouTube TV app is not working correctly, the problem could be on your device. There are times when errors occur on your operating system, and it needs to restart to refresh its resources.

On Android, you can restart your device by doing the following:

  1. First, press and hold the Power button of your device to access the Options screen.
  2. Now, tap on Restart to reboot your Android device.
  3. Wait for the process to finish, which can take a couple of seconds, depending on your device.

For iOS users, see the steps below to restart your device.

  1. On your device, locate the Power button and hold it down until the ‘Slide to Power Off’ screen shows up.
  2. Now, drag the slider until your screen turns off.
  3. Lastly, tap the Power button once to restart your iOS device.

If you are on a Smart TV, check out the guide below to restart it.

  1. First, get your TV’s remote and press the Power button to turn it off.
  2. Now, unplug your TV’s power cable from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging it back in.
  3. Lastly, press the Power button again on your remote to restart it.

Once done, go back to YouTube TV and check if the problem is solved.

4. Use PureVPN.

5. Power Cycle Your TV, Chromecast, and Other Streaming Devices.

If you suddenly experience YouTube TV issues, a temporary error could’ve happened on your device during run time. To fix this, try to power cycle your device.

Power cycling helps reset any data that may have gotten corrupted on your device.

  1. First, make sure that your device is completely turned off.
  2. Now, unplug its power cable and remove the battery if possible.
  3. Wait for about 2-3 minutes before putting back the battery or plugging back in the power cable.
  4. Once done, turn on your device again.

After the power cycle, go back to YouTube TV and try using it normally to check if any errors would still occur.

6. Check for Updates.

YouTube releases updates on their app from time to time to address issues that could’ve occurred and to keep the application optimized for most devices.

If you haven’t updated the YouTube TV app for a long time, try to check for an update now.

On Android, you can update the YouTube TV app by doing the following:

  1. First, open Google Play Store on your Android device and tap the Menu button inside the search bar.
  2. Now, tap on My Apps & Games to check for possible updates.
  3. Lastly, tap the Update button if there’s an available update for YouTube TV

For iOS users, see the steps below to update YouTube TV.

  1. On your device, open the App Store from your home screen.
  2. Now, tap on your Profile icon. This should prompt the App Store to check for possible updates on all the applications installed on your device.
  3. If available, tap the Update button next to YouTube TV to install it.

If you are using an Android TV, follow the guide below to update YouTube TV.

  1. First, open the Play Store on your Android TV
  2. Now, search for YouTube TV
  3. Lastly, click on the Update button if there’s an available update.

For Smart TVs, updating the YouTube TV app may vary depending on the model of your device. Check your user manual to know the exact steps to update applications on your TV.

7. Check and Reset Your Internet.

Problems on YouTube TV can also be due to a slow internet connection. Since YouTube TV is an online platform, a stable internet connection is needed for YouTube TV to function normally.

To check your network’s status, try to run a speed test using Fast.com to measure its current upload and download speed.

If the result shows that your connection is running slow, try to restart your router to refresh the link with your service provider’s servers.

Once done, re-run the test to see if the restart solved the problem. Contact your ISP immediately if you continue to encounter issues with your network.

8. Delete YouTube TV and Reinstall It.

The installation files of YouTube TV may have encountered a severe error that an update can no longer fix. If this is the case, the only option you have is to delete the app and reinstall a fresh copy of YouTube TV.

On Android, follow the steps below to reinstall YouTube TV.

  1. First, go to your home screen and locate the YouTube TV app.
  2. Now, tap and hold its app icon until you see the selection screen.
  3. Lastly, tap on Uninstall to delete the YouTube TV app.

If you are on an iOS device, check out the guide below to reinstall YouTube TV.

  1. On your home screen, find the YouTube TV app.
  2. Now, hold down its app icon until the options screen appears.
  3. Finally, tap on Remove App to delete it.

For Smart TVs, follow the guide below to reinstall YouTube TV.

  1. On your TV, navigate to the home screen and find the YouTube TV app.
  2. After that, highlight the app and press the Options/More button on your remote.
  3. Lastly, select Uninstall and press Ok to continue.

After deleting the YouTube TV app, visit the App Store or Play Store and reinstall the app from there.

9. Check for Compatibility or Use An Alternative.

The YouTube TV app is only available on a particular version or model of Smart TVs and streaming devices. If the app is not working on your device, try to verify if your model is included on the list of devices supported by YouTube TV

If your device is not supported by YouTube TV, you can also use streaming devices like Roku or Chromecast to play your favorite live channels on YouTube TV.

10. Update Your Device.

Your manufacturer may have released a new version of its operating system to support the YouTube TV app. If you have an old unit, try to check for software updates and hope that your manufacturer released a new version compatible with YouTube Tv.

  1. First, open your Smart TV and navigate to its Settings page.
  2. Now, go to About and open the Software Version tab.
  3. Finally, click on Check for Updates and follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest version if available.

Keep in mind that the steps mentioned above may vary depending on the model and brand of Smart TV you are using.

Are you just seeing a spinning circle on YouTube TV when playing videos?

As YouTube continues to grow, the company explores new ways to reach more people and meet their needs with new services like YouTube TV and YouTube Music. YouTube TV is a streaming service that lets you stream live TV channels like ESPN, FOX, CBN, and more.

However, if you are reading this right now, you’re probably experiencing issues on the platform.

The spinning circle problem on YouTube TV when watching live channels could indicate that your network is running slow or an issue with YouTube TV servers.

Since the issue doesn’t point out a specific problem, troubleshooting can get confusing, especially if you don’t know where to start.

In this case, we’ve decided to extend a helping hand and make a simplified guide in fixing the spinning circle issue on YouTube TV.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Check YouTube TV’s Servers.

Like any online platform, YouTube TV relies on its servers to deliver its services. If something is not right with the app, try to check their servers’ status using Downdetector. It is a third-party site that displays the current status of websites and the issues it has encountered for the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, you can also visit YouTube’s official Twitter page to get the latest news about the platform.

2. Turn Off VPN.

If you are using virtual private networks to keep your connection safe and private, try turning it off if you encounter problems on YouTube TV. VPNs work by masking your default IP address and filters your data through their servers before passing it to the websites you visit.

Although this process works great for security purposes, it can also cause instability and delay on your network.

If you just see a spinning circle on YouTube TV, try to disable your VPN and check if the problem goes away.

3. Use PureVPN.

Do you prefer using a VPN service while browsing online? Check out PureVPN!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is PureVPN-1.png

PureVPN is a virtual private network provider with 6500+ servers across the globe for optimized unparallel performance. PureVPN has many helpful features like split-tunneling, port forwarding, 256bit AES Encryption, and more!

With PureVPN, you are sure that your data is safe and protected online without dealing with network connectivity issues.

Besides, PureVPN also has 24/7 customer support available via phone, email, and live chats to help you with problems that you may encounter on the platform.

Secure your data online with PureVPN!

4. Restart Your Device.

This method might look very simple but restarting your device does many things that you might not expect. When you restart your device, it reloads its operating system, eliminating any errors that may have occurred during run time.

For Android users, check out the guide below to restart your device.

  1. First, find the Power button of your device.
  2. Now, press and hold it until the Power Options screen shows up.
  3. Lastly, tap on Restart and wait for the process to complete.

If you are using an iOS device, see the steps below to restart it.

  1. Locate your device’s Power button and hold it down until you see the ‘Slide to Power Off’ screen.
  2. Now, drag the slider to the right until your screen turns black.
  3. Once your device is completely turned off, tap the Power button to restart it.

On Smart TVs, follow the steps below to restart it.

  1. First, get your TV’s remote and press the Power button to turn it off.
  2. Now, unplug the power cable of your TV for about 10 seconds before plugging it back in.
  3. Lastly, press the Power button on your TV’s remote again to turn it on.

After restarting your device, go back to YouTube TV and check if the issue is solved.

5. Power Cycle Your Device (Chromecast, TV, Other Streaming Devices).

In some cases, the device you are using to stream YouTube TV could be in an error state. Thankfully, this is very common on electronic devices, and there’s nothing to worry about.

These devices create temporary data while in use, which can get corrupted anytime. If this happens, you’ll probably encounter random errors and issues on the platform.

To fix this, try to power cycle your device to reset its temporary data. See the steps below to perform a power cycle.

  1. First, make sure that your streaming device is turned off properly.
  2. After that, unplug your device from its power source. If it has a battery, remove it if possible.
  3. Now, allow your device to rest for about 2-3 minutes
  4. Finally, plug back in your device and turn it on to complete the power cycle.

Once done, go back to YouTube TV and see if the problem is solved.

6. Check for Updates.

YouTube developers release timely updates on the YouTube TV app to ensure that it is running correctly. Patches are released to address bugs and errors that may have occurred on the app.

However, if you haven’t updated the YouTube TV app on your Smart TV, you can expect that problems may occur anytime. To fix this, simply update the app to the latest version to get the needed patch for the error.

If you own an Android TV, updating applications is pretty straightforward. Follow the steps below to guide you on the process.

  1. First, open the Play Store on your TV and search for YouTube TV
  2. Now, select YouTube TV using your remote.
  3. If available, click on the Update button to install the latest version of the software.

On the other hand, if you own a Smart TV or similar device, updating applications may vary from model to model. In this case, we suggest that you refer to the user manual to learn how you can update applications on your device.

7. Check and Reset Your Internet.

The spinning circle issue on YouTube TV can also be due to your network connection. Streaming videos online requires a decent internet connection, and your network could be running slow at the moment.

To verify this, try to run a speed test using Fast.com to measure its current upload and download speed.

If updating the application was not able to resolve the issue, you can try reinstalling YouTube TV. Some of its files may have gotten corrupted beyond repair, and the only option you have is to delete and reinstall the app.

Once done, go to the App Store or Play Store and reinstall the YouTube TV app from there.

9. Check for Compatibility.

Since you are streaming live TV through the internet, Google uses specific modules that may not support older devices. If you just see a spinning circle on YouTube TV, go ahead and visit the list of their compatible devices and make sure that the TV you are using is supported.

If your Smart TV is no longer supported, consider using streaming devices like Chromecast or Roku to enjoy YouTube TV.

10. Check for Software Updates.

Similar to what is mentioned above, your Smart TV’s operating system might be outdated and incompatible with YouTube TV. To fix this, try to update your Smart TV and hope that the manufacturer released a new OS for your TV.

To check for updates, see the steps below.

  1. First, open your Smart TV and navigate to its Settings page.
  2. Now, go to About and open the Software Version tab.
  3. Finally, click on Check for Updates and follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest version if available.

Do take note that the steps above may vary depending on the model of Smart TV you have. You should check your user manual to know the exact steps for your device.

Once done, go back to YouTube TV and try to play a video again.

This brings us to the end of our guide in fixing the spinning circle issue on YouTube TV. If you have other concerns, please let us know in the comment section below, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

YouTube not working on your Roku device?

Roku is a streaming device that can turn your ordinary and boring television into an entertainment system that gives you access to applications like YouTube, Netflix, and more. Getting a Roku device can extend your old TV with no built-in features like internet browsing, movie streaming, and screen mirroring.

However, if you’re about to watch your favorite YouTuber but found out that YouTube is not working on your Roku, keep reading.

Most of the time, this issue is caused by YouTube’s servers going down unexpectedly, but other factors should also be considered.

In this guide, we’ll show you a few tips on how you can fix YouTube that is not working on Roku.

Let’s get started!

1. Check YouTube’s Servers.

Since YouTube is an online platform, the first thing that you should do is to check their servers if something is not right on the app. Probably, an unexpected error occurred on YouTube’s servers, and their developers need some time to resolve it.

To check YouTube’s servers, you can use third-party sites like Downdetector that display the current status of YouTube and the past issues it encountered.

You can also visit YouTube’s official Twitter page for more updates.

2. Force Restart Your Roku.

If YouTube’s servers are working fine, the next thing you can do is force restart your Roku device. Temporary errors may have occurred on its operating system, and a simple restart should fix it.

Check out the steps below to force restart your Roku.

  1. First, get your Roku remote and press the Home button five times.
  2. After that, press the Up arrow once and hit the Rewind button twice.
  3. Lastly, press the Fast Forward button twice, and the system restart should begin.

Wait for your Roku device to complete its restart, which should take a couple of seconds.

3. Check Your Internet Connection.

Another reason for YouTube not to work on a Roku device is your internet connection. Your network is possibly running slow, and the Roku device is having a hard time communicating with YouTube’s servers.

To verify this, run a test using Fast.com on your network to measure its current upload and download speed.

YouTube not working on Roku

If the test shows that your network is indeed the problem, try to restart your router by unplugging its power cable for 5 to 10 seconds. Once done, plug back in the power cable on your router, and it should restart.

YouTube not working on Roku

Once done, run another speed test to verify if your network is now running correctly. Contact your service provider if the problem continues and ask them to fix the issue.

4. Install the YouTube TV App.

Besides the mobile app, YouTube has a dedicated app for SmartTVs and media boxes like Roku. If the standard YouTube app is not working on your Roku device,  try to install the dedicated YouTube TV app.

Check out the steps below to guide you on the process.

  1. First, go to your home screen and open the Streaming Channels tab.
  2. Now, select Search and type ‘YouTube TV’
  3. Finally, click YouTube TV and select Add Channel from the menu. Wait for the process to complete.

Once done, try to open the YouTube TV app and see if it is now working on your Roku device.

To learn more, check out our detailed guide on how you can get the YouTube TV app on Roku devices

5. Lower the Quality of the Video.

If, for some reason, videos are not loading or playing on YouTube, try lowering the stream’s quality. Possibly, your internet connection cannot handle the bandwidth requirement for playing HD or UHD videos on YouTube.

To lower YouTube’s video quality on Roku, see the steps below.

  1. First, open your Roku device and go to its Settings tab.
  2. Now, go to Display Type
  3. Finally, select a lower resolution like 720p or set it to Auto Detect so that your Roku device can automatically adjust the resolution depending on the situation.
YouTube not working on Roku

However, do keep in mind that this will also change the playback resolution on your other applications.

6. Check for System Updates.

The version of Roku OS running on your device could have an issue related to the YouTube app, which causes it to malfunction. To fix this, try to check for system updates as Roku might have released a more recent version to patch the problem.

See the steps below to update your Roku device.

  1. On your device, go to the Settings page and open the System tab.
  2. Now, scroll down and select System Update.
  3. After that, click on Check Now
YouTube not working on Roku
  1. Finally, follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest version of Roku OS on your device.

After updating your device, go back to YouTube or YouTube TV and see if the application is now working correctly.

However, if you continue to experience YouTube problems with your Roku device, follow the last method below to fix the issue.

7. Reinstall the YouTube/YouTube TV App.

For the final method, you can try reinstalling the YouTube or YouTube TV app on your Roku device. The app’s installation files on your device might have gotten corrupted during run time, or it’s just not installed correctly.

See the steps below to reinstall YouTube on your Roku device.

  1. First, go to your home screen and navigate to the YouTube or YouTube TV app.
  2. Now, press the * button on your remote to open the Channel Menu
  3. Using your remote, highlight the Remove Channel option and click Ok.
YouTube not working on Roku
  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to delete the channel from your device.

Once done, go to the Streaming Channels tab and add the YouTube or YouTube TV channel again. After reinstalling YouTube, try to open it and play a few videos to check if any errors would still occur.

On the other hand, you can also check our detailed guide on how you can add Disney+ on Roku

This ends our guide in fixing YouTube not working on Roku devices. If you know other ways to address this problem, please share them in the comment section below. We’d be glad to give credit to your name for the solution once we’ve updated this article.

The Apple TV was first introduced in 2006 and currently, it is at its 5th generation which has support for 4K video resolution. It connects to your television and allows you to view digital media and access streaming applications like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.

However, there have been several reports from Apple TV owners that they are having problems using the YouTube application on the Apple TV. Users reported that some videos on YouTube are not playing on the Apple TV. In the worst cases, others also experienced problems playing any video on the YouTube app.

But you’re in luck! Today, we are going to show you possible steps and methods that you can follow to get the YouTube app working again on the Apple TV.

Let’s get right into it.

1.  Force Close All Applications Running on the Background.

Apple TV doesn’t have a lot of Random Access Memory or RAM (in short). The RAM  is where your applications go when you run them on your Apple TV or other devices. If you are having problems playing videos on YouTube, then it is possible that your Apple TV is running out of RAM and it slows down the loading of videos on YouTube.

Closing applications running on the background helps your Apple TV to run faster which can solve the problem of streaming videos on the YouTube App.

In force closing running applications, you can follow the steps below.

  1. Open your Apple TV and get your Siri remote. Now, double-tap the Home button to open the application switcher.
  2. Next, the app-switching view will pop-up. This will display all the applications running in the background. You can swipe right or left to go through the applications and swipe up to force close apps that you want to exit.

  1. After closing unwanted apps in the background, press the Home button once to go back to the main screen.
  2. Lastly, run the YouTube app again on your Apple TV and see if you can play videos without any problems.

Now, if you are still unable to stream videos on YouTube after force closing background applications, you can try doing the next method.

2. Restart Your Apple TV.

If force closing applications did not work, then you can try restarting your Apple TV to ensure that no background applications are running on your device. Restarting your Apple TV clears up system resources which can cause slow system performance.

There are a couple of ways on how to restart your Apple TV. To make it more convenient for you, we will show you all the methods on how to restart your device so that you can decide what is the best way for you.
