Is your webcam not working on Zoom?

Zoom is one of the most popular video conferencing apps in the world alongside Google Meet.

But this does not exempt Zoom from occasional errors. One complaint that we regularly see from users is their webcam not working during calls.

Webcam Not Working On Zoom

This can be annoying since it renders the video conferencing app useless.

To help out, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing your webcam if it’s not working on Zoom.

Are you having trouble with the Zoom app not working on iPhone 14 Pro?

Zoom offers a web-based service and an application for your smart gadget to host virtual meetings, webinars, audio or video calls, conferences, and more. The service gained popularity during the recent pandemic as remote communication became increasingly important.

But like all other software, Zoom is no exception to encountering issues. Numerous reports have been posted lately about the Zoom app not working on iPhone 14 Pro.

If you’re in a similar situation, you’ve luckily landed on the right page. Below, we’ve discussed all the possible fixes for all potential errors causing the Zoom app not to work on your latest iPhone.

So what’s the wait for? Let’s jump straight in!

1. Check If Zoom Servers Are Down.

Before you go to some of the troubleshooting steps explained in this guide, let’s first make sure whether the problem lies on your end or in the Zoom servers, as they may occasionally go down. When that happens, all services the application offers will no longer be operational until and unless the official servers are back up and running.

To do so, you can go to the Zoom Status page and look at which of the Zoom services are operational. Alternatively, you may use an online tool like DownDetector to find out if anything is wrong from the developer’s end.

2. Relaunch the App.

In case the application becomes unresponsive and gets stuck in the middle of a conference or a call, something as simple as closing and relaunching the application might fix the issue for you. If you feel a lag in your device’s overall performance, we recommend you close all the running apps to minimize background activity.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to view App Launcher.
  2. Then flick the Zoom app upwards so that it disappears. Quit the remaining apps as well, as they could interfere with and affect the application’s performance.

  1. Wait for a bit, then tap on the Zoom app to relaunch it.

Then check and see if the issue you were facing earlier has been resolved.

3. Restart Your Device.

You’ll be surprised by how many problems a simple reboot of the device can resolve. By doing so, your Zoom app will refresh all its services and connections, hopefully eliminating whatever is affecting its functionality. But before you proceed with this method, we recommend you quit the Zoom app, as explained above.

Afterward, use the instructions below to restart your iPhone 14 Pro:

  1. First, press and hold the Side button and Volume button on your device.
  2. Release once the slide to power off screen appears.

  1. Drag the slider all the way to the right to shut down your iPhone.
  2. Now, wait a few minutes before long pressing the Side button again.
  3. Let go when the Apple logo appears on the screen.

4. Ensure Your Network Connectivity.

Now before you take some serious steps to fix the issue, it’s best to check if you have a working internet connection. Try using Zoom on another device to check whether the internet works properly. If not, restart your router or switch to an alternate connection type. You can also contact your Internet Service Provider if the main issue lies in their provided service.

5. Update the Zoom App.

Outdated applications can become a victim of bugs and glitches in no time. If your Zoom app hasn’t been updated lately but you see a pending version, waste no time installing it as it may contain just the fix you need.

Follow the steps below to install the update from the App Store:

  1. Head over to the App Store from your iPhone.
  2. Next, tap on the profile icon from the screen’s top-right corner.

  1. Then, scroll down to Upcoming Automatic Updates and tap on the Update button next to Zoom.

6. Update Your iOS.

Just like an outdated application is a cause behind unknown errors, an outdated iOS version also results in various issues within your device. The Zoom app not working on iPhone 14 Pro could be one of them. Therefore, whenever you have a new version update, never leave it pending.

Follow the steps below to install it on your device:

  1. Begin by going to the Settings app.
  2. Then, tap on General.
  3. There, select Software Update.
  4. If a new version is available, simply tap on Download and Install to begin the process.

7. Reinstall the App.

In case the Zoom app on your device keeps crashing the minute you launch it, deleting it and reinstalling a fresh copy will hopefully fix this issue. Other than that, it will also resolve other issues within the application, like certain areas of the app not working.

To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. To start, go to the iPhone’s home screen and press and hold the Zoom app
  2. From there, select Remove app.

  1. Then, choose Delete App from the prompt that appears.
  2. Now, go to the App Store from your device.
  3. Go to the Search tab from the bottom and type in ‘zoom’ in the search bar.
  4. From the search results, tap on Get next to Zoom to reinstall it on your iPhone.

8. Grant the Necessary Permission.

Every app on your phone requires certain permissions to function. If the Zoom app is restricted from using the device’s camera or microphone, it may also lead to the app not working correctly on iPhone 14 Pro. Hence, ensure that you have enabled the permissions from Settings by following the steps below:

  1. Launch Settings
  2. Go to Privacy & Security

  1. After that, tap on Camera.

  1. Now, switch the toggle on next to Zoom to allow it to use your device’s microphone.

9. Ensure Your Microphone Isn’t Mute.

Whenever you join a Zoom meeting, a pop-up immediately appears, asking you to Join using your device audio. If you accidentally close it at times, it may cause the Zoom audio not to work.

Therefore, ensure that your device’s audio is connected to the Zoom app. If your audio is not connected, tap on Join Audio or Unmute from your screen’s lower-left corner to unmute yourself.

10. Contact Zoom Support.

If you’re still unable to get the Zoom app to work on your iPhone 14 Pro, your last option is to contact Zoom Support. The expert technicians there will be able to help you sort out any technical issues that may be causing your Zoom app not to work.

This ends our guide on how to fix the Zoom app not working on iPhone 14 Pro. We hope that you’ve gotten the Zoom app to work by following the methods mentioned in this guide. If you have any confusion or questions, use the comments section below. We’ll try our best to help you out.

Are you facing a microphone issue on Zoom on Windows 10?

If you are one of the millions of people working or studying from home during the pandemic, you probably realize the significance of teleconferencing software like Zoom.

Zoom is no longer just a productivity tool. It is where families connect, and friends organize virtual get-togethers. And with all that’s going on, imagine running into a microphone issue and not being able to hear anything during a meeting that you waited days for.

If you are reading this guide right now, it is safe to assume that you have run into such an issue on Windows 10 and are looking for quick solutions to get back on track.

Luckily, we have compiled a list of the most effective workarounds that will help you fix the issue in no time.

Let’s get started.

1. Adjust Settings on Windows.

If your microphone is not working on Zoom, then the first thing you should do is check if Zoom has permission to access your microphone on Windows 10.

Desktop apps require permission to access microphones to work as intended, and if this feature was previously disabled in your PC, enabling it will resolve the issue.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Go to the Settings app and click on Privacy.
  2. Locate Microphone from the left panel and click on it.
  3. First, click on the Change button under the ‘Allow apps to access your microphone’ option and enable it.
How to Fix Zoom Microphone Issue on Windows 10
  1. Now toggle on the ‘Allow desktop apps to access your microphone’ option and check if the issue is resolved.

If the desktop apps on your PC were not allowed to access the microphone, changing the settings will resolve the issue.

However, if the method mentioned above did not do the trick for you, then try changing the settings using the steps mentioned below:

  1. Locate the Speaker icon on your taskbar and right-click on it.
  2. Select Open Sound settings and inside the newly opened window, click on Manage Sound Devices right under the Troubleshoot button.
How to Fix Zoom Microphone Issue on Windows 10
  1. Locate your active microphone under the list of disabled devices and click on it.
  2. Now click on the Enabled button and go to the Sound settings window again.
  3. Try speaking inside your microphone to check if it is working correctly. If you notice any movement in the bar under Test your microphone option, this means that your microphone is working.

You should now be able to use the microphone on Zoom. However, if you do not notice any movement, proceed to the following method mentioned below.

2. Use the Sound Control Panel.

One more straightforward way to fix Zoom microphone issues on Windows 10 is by adjusting the Microphone settings via Sound Control Panel. There is a possibility that the microphone you are trying to use is disabled in the Control Panel, which, as a result, is causing the issue at hand.

Here is how you can enable your microphone in the Sound Control Panel and resolve the issue:

  1. Locate the Speaker icon on your taskbar and right-click on it.
  2. Select Open Sound settings and click on Sound Control Panel under Related Settings in the newly opened window.
How to Fix Zoom Microphone Issue on Windows 10
  1. Go to the Recording tab and right-click on the microphone you want to use.
  2. Select Enabled and hit Enter
enable microphone on Windows
  1. Now select the microphone you want to use again and click on the Properties button located at the bottom of the window.
  2. Go to the Listen tab and checkmark the box against Listen to this device.
How to Fix Zoom Microphone Issue on Windows 10
  1. Click on OK and then switch to the Levels tab in the same window.
  2. Adjust the intensity level according to your preferences and click on Apply to save the changes.
Microphone levels
  1. Now select your microphone again like you did in the 5th step and this time, click on Set Default
  2. Try speaking something in your microphone to see if it’s working fine. If you see any movement in the bar, click on OK

This should fix Zoom microphone issues on Windows 10.

3.  Modify Zoom’s audio settings.

Another possible reason behind the Zoom microphone issue can be the audio settings of Zoom itself. In this case, changing the Windows sound settings would not work for you, and to resolve the issue at hand, you must tweak Zoom’s audio settings.

Here is how you can do that:

  1. Open Zoom and click on the Settings icon (cogwheel).
  2. Locate the Audio tab from the left panel and click on it.
  3. Now expand the drop-down menu against Microphone and checkmark the box against ‘Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting’.
How‌ ‌to‌ ‌Fix‌ ‌Zoom‌ ‌Microphone‌ ‌Issue‌ ‌on‌ ‌ Windows‌ ‌10‌
  1. Once done, click on the Advanced button located at the bottom-right of the window and disable the Suppress Persistent Background Noise and Suppress Intermittent Background Noise options. If you do not want to disable them, you can also set them to Moderate.
  2. Now set the ‘Echo cancellation’ feature to Auto and try joining a Zoom meeting to check if the microphone is working fine now.

If Zoom’s audio settings were causing the issue, adjusting them according to your preference will fix it.

4. Try Using CleanMyPC.

When was the last time you deep cleaned your PC and removed all the junk files from the system? If that was a long time ago (or never), then now might be the right time because it is common for issues like the one at hand to occur due to corruption errors within the system.

The best way to eliminate corruption errors and viruses from the operating system is by using a reliable PC cleaner. If you are looking for a suggestion, we highly recommend using CleanMyPC

Install CleanMyPC on your PC

CleanMyPC comes with a wide range of system maintenance tools that will not just remove the junk files but will also take care of other issues like slow speed and sluggish performance of your PC. All that you need to do is install the application and run the scanner. The rest will be taken care of!

Install CleanMyPC now and get your PC up and running like new!

Try CleanMyPC Now!

5. Reinstall Zoom.

If none of the methods mentioned above has worked for you, this implies that the corruption error causing the issue cannot be resolved using the conventional troubleshooting steps.

In this scenario, it is best to reinstall Zoom, as installing a fresh copy of this program will resolve all the application issues.

Here is how you can reinstall it to fix Zoom microphone issue on Windows 10:

  1. Go to the Control Panel and click on Uninstall a program
  2. Locate Zoom from the list of programs available and right-click on it.
  3. Click Uninstall and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the program.

You can now reinstall Zoom, and hopefully, your issue will be resolved once and for all.

This brings us to the end of our guide on fixing Zoom microphone issue on Windows 10. We tried walking you through all the steps in detail and hope that one of the methods helped you resolve the problem once and for all. If you have any questions regarding the troubleshooting steps, please let us know in the comment section below!

Can’t connect to your Zoom meeting with an error code 5003?

Zoom is one of the most used video conferencing applications for the past months due to the on-going situations with COVID-19.

With the large volume of users who use Zoom every day, their developers did a pretty good job in keeping their servers running and available most of the time. However, just like any other application, Zoom also suffers from occasional downtimes and errors.

One of the most common problems with Zoom is its connectivity issue like the error code 5003. There have been reports from several users who are seeing the error code 5003 every time they try to join a Zoom meeting.

The error occurs when the Zoom app fails to connect to its servers due to an overprotective firewall, a conflict with third-party applications, or a slow internet connection.

Whatever the case is, this problem should be easy to fix and you should be able to join your meeting in no time.

In this guide, we are going to show you the most effective ways on how to address the error code 5003 when joining a Zoom meeting.

Let’s get started!

1. Restart Zoom.

The easiest fix to this issue is to restart the Zoom app. Possibly, the application runs into a temporary error which makes it difficult for the app to connect to its servers. In this case, restarting the app would allow it to reload all of its resources and probably eliminate the temporary error that has occurred.

Restart Zoom on PC.

For Windows users who wish to restart the Zoom app, simply follow the steps below:

  1. First, press the Windows key + X on your keyboard to open the Quick Start Menu.
  2. After that, click on Task Manager to open it.

  1. Inside the Task Manager, locate the Zoom app from the list.
  2. Lastly, click on the Zoom app and hit the End Task button to stop the application from running.

On the other hand, for macOS users, you can restart Zoom by doing the following steps:

  1. On your Mac, click on the Search button at the top right corner of your screen.
  2. After that, type Activity Monitor and hit Enter to open it.

  1. Inside the Activity Monitor, locate the Zoom app.
  2. Lastly, click the Zoom app and hit the Stop button on the menu bar. You can either select Quit or Force Quit from the options.

Once you are done closing the Zoom app from your computer, go back to your desktop and open Zoom again. Try to join your meeting to see if the Zoom error code 5003 would still occur.

Restart Zoom on Mobile.

If you are using an Android device to join a zoom meeting, you can restart the app by performing the following steps:

  1. On your device, swipe up on your screen from the bottom part of the display until the app switcher appears.
  2. From the app switcher, locate the Zoom app.
  3. Lastly, flick the Zoom app upwards until it is removed from the list to stop it from running.

On the other hand, if you are using an iOS device, you can restart the Zoom app by doing the following.

For iOS devices that use an all-screen display, you can restart an app by simply swiping upwards from the bottom of your screen until the app switcher appears. After that, find the Zoom app and flick it upwards until it is gone from the app switcher.

Now, if you are using an older iOS device with a Home button, simply double-tap the Home button to open the app switcher. Locate the Zoom app and flick it upwards until it is removed from the list to stop it from running.

among use disconnected from the server

After closing the Zoom app on your mobile device, go back to your home screen, and tap the app to open it. Join the Zoom meeting once again to see if the error code 5003 would still occur.

2. Check Zoom’s Servers.

If Zoom’s servers are currently down, then you won’t be able to do anything on your side to fix the error code 5003 since the problem is on their side.

To verify this, visit Zoom’s official site where the status of their servers is displayed. On the site, ensure that all of its servers are operational.

Now, if their servers are indeed down, the only thing that you can do is to check their site from time to time to stay updated on the current status of their servers.

3. Check Your Internet Connection.

The next thing that you should do is to check your internet connection. Since the error code 5003 is related to connectivity problems, it is possible that your connection is not stable or too slow to perform a video call.

To verify this, you can use third-party sites like Fast.com, which accurately measures the upload and download speed of your internet connection.

among use disconnected from the server

If the test results come out to be slow or not close to the internet speed bandwidth indicated on your monthly subscription plan, try to restart your router. To do this, simply locate the power cable of your router and remove it. Now, wait for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging back the power cable on your router.

among use disconnected from the server

Once your router has started up, perform another speed test to see if your internet connection is already fixed. However, if you are still having internet connection issues, it is best that you contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and report to them the problem that you are experiencing with their internet service.

4. Check Your Firewall Settings.

If the Zoom app is not able to access your internet connection properly, then it would have difficulties connecting to its servers which causes the error code 5003. To ensure that Zoom can access your network connection properly, make sure that it is allowed on your Firewall.

  1. On your computer, press on the Windows key + S and search for Windows Defender Firewall
  2. After that, click on Open

  1. Inside Windows Defender Firewall, click on ‘Allow an App Through Windows Defender Firewall’.
  2. Lastly, locate the Zoom app from the list and make sure that it is allowed on your firewall.

Give your system a restart after applying the settings. Now, open Zoom once again and try to join a meeting to check if you are able to join it successfully.

5. Disable Proxy Servers.

Just like Windows Firewall, a proxy server acts as a security layer between your system and the internet. Your proxy server settings might be causing issues with the Zoom app and it tries to block it from accessing your network.

To fix this, temporarily disable your proxy servers while using the Zoom app:

  1. On your computer, press on the Windows key + I to open Windows Settings
  2. After that, click on Network & Internet

  1. Inside the Network Settings, click on Proxy from the side menu.
  2. Lastly, make sure that ‘Use a Proxy Server’ is turned off.

Now, open the Zoom app again and try to join a Zoom meeting to check if the error code 5003 would still occur.

However, if you still see the error code after disabling your proxy server, go ahead and try doing the next method below to fix the issue.

6. Disable Third-Party Antivirus.

While antivirus software is a good way to keep your system free from malware and other viruses, it is quite harsh on other programs like Zoom which it can mistakenly flag as a suspicious app and blocks any form of connection with the app.

To address this, you can try disabling any third-party antivirus software on your system if you are going to use Zoom to avoid this kind of conflict.

Alternatively, you can also remove your third-party antivirus permanently from your system and use the built-in Windows Defender which is also great in protecting your operating system.

7. Reinstall Network Drivers.

Connection issues on your computer can also be caused by a problematic network driver. If your drivers are not installed properly or corrupted, then your computer hardware like network adapters would not function properly.

To fix this, try reinstalling your network drivers to make sure that it is not corrupted.

  1. On your computer, press on the Windows key + S and search for Device Manager
  2. Next, click on Open

  1. Inside the Device Manager, click on Network Adapters to expand it.
  2. Lastly, right-click on your current network adapter and select Uninstall Device. Follow the on-screen prompts to proceed.

After uninstalling your network drivers, restart your computer and Windows would automatically install the best suitable driver for your network device.

Now, try to open Zoom and join your meeting to see if you can connect successfully.

8. Run Network Troubleshooter.

If you are still having problems with Zoom after performing the steps above, what you can try doing is to run the built-in network troubleshooter on Windows. It is a useful tool that can detect and fix any issues related to your network, which may cause the error code 5003 on Zoom.

To run the network troubleshooter, follow the steps below.

  1. On your keyboard, press on the Windows key + I to open Windows Settings
  2. Inside Windows Settings, click on Update & Security

  1. After that, click on Troubleshoot
  2. Next, click on Internet Connections
  3. Lastly, click on Run the Troubleshooter. Follow the on-screen prompts to guide you on how to use the tool.

If the troubleshooter suggested a possible solution to your network problem, simply click the ‘Apply this Fix’ button to make the changes on your system.

Once done, try to join your Zoom meeting to check if you would still encounter the error code 5003.

However, if you are still seeing the error code 5003 when joining a Zoom meeting, it is best that you contact Zoom’s technical support and report to them the issue that you are having. Be sure to give important details like your username and the device that you are using so that they can provide a solution that suits you the best.

This ends our guide on how to fix Zoom error code 5003. If you have other ideas on how to solve this issue on Zoom, kindly share it in the comment section below and we would be glad to give you credit for the solution once we update this article.

If this guide helped you, please share it. 🙂

Having a hard time setting up a Zoom meeting where joiners are presented with an error code 3113?

Due to the current situation with COVID-19, work from home setups has been used all over the world to reduce the risk of infection.

With this, conference video calls have been in demand and have been widely used by most companies. Zoom has been one of the go-to applications used by companies to host meetings with their employees.

However, Zoom has been plagued with controversies questioning the safety and security of the app with regards to user data.

In order to address these issues, Zoom implemented a few tweaks on their app to improve its security.

On September 27, 2020, Zoom released a new policy on their app requiring most users to set up a passcode for the room that they are hosting or enable a waiting room for users who want to join the meeting.

Given this, some users were not aware of the recent changes and did not comply with the policy. Now, the users who are trying to join their Zoom meetings are being greeted with an error code 3113, which indicates that neither a passcode nor waiting room was enabled for that specific meeting.

As of this writing, users who have an account with a single license, pro subscription, business accounts, and government accounts with less than a hundred licenses are required by Zoom to comply with the new policy of enabling waiting rooms or passcode when hosting a meeting.

How to Fix Zoom Error Code 3113?

Since it is clear that the error code 3113 is mainly caused by the latest policy changes of Zoom, finding a solution is much easier.

If you want to know how to resolve the error code 3113 on Zoom, check out the methods below.

Enable Zoom Passcode and Waiting Room in Your Meeting.

For hosts that prefer to have a passcode on their meeting, you can follow the steps below to guide you on how to set up a passcode for your Zoom meeting:

  1. First, open your preferred browser and sign in to your Zoom account.

  1. After that, click on Meetings from the navigation menu.
  2. Now, select the meeting that you are having problems with and click Edit

  1. Lastly, go to the Security tab and make sure that Passcode or Waiting Room is enabled.

You can also enable both passcode and waiting room for your meeting for better security.

On the other hand, if you want to set up a new meeting with a passcode or waiting room enabled, follow the steps below.

  1. On Zoom’s web portal, click on the Meetings tab from the side menu.
  2. After that, click on Schedule a Meeting

  1. Now, fill out the fields based on your preference and make sure that Waiting Room or Passcode is enabled under the Security tab.
  2. Lastly, click the Save button and send out the invites for the meeting together with the passcode that you have set.

Now, you can proceed with the meeting to tackle your agendas.

Zoom Versions Compatible with Waiting Rooms.

If you prefer using Zoom waiting rooms for your meetings, be sure that you and other members of the meeting have the compatible version of the app installed on their devices.

For Windows and macOS users, you should be running Zoom version v5.1.2 or higher on your computer for you to use waiting rooms.

On the other hand, for those who prefer using Linux as their operating system, you should have Zoom version v5.1.422789.0705 and up to use waiting rooms.

In addition, Android users who wish to use Zoom waiting rooms should install version v5.1.28652.0706 or higher on their device and v5.1.228642.0705 or higher for devices running iOS.

To make things simpler, you can just update your Zoom app all at once to save time checking the version of Zoom installed on your device.

Waiting Room Options for Hosts.

Since managing waiting rooms is additional work for meeting hosts, Zoom added useful options to make it easier for the host to manage the meeting.

As a host, you can choose between four options to control who is sent to the waiting room for approval.

  • Everyone – with this setting, any account that attempts to join your meeting would be admitted to the waiting room until you allow them to join the actual meeting.
  • Users Not in Your Account – this option would allow any participant from your Zoom account to join the meeting directly without any approval. However, users who are not signed in or not on your Zoom account would be directed to the waiting room for approval.
  • Users Not in Your Account and Allowed List – just like the one above, users who are not part of your Zoom account would be redirected to the waiting room for approval as well as those who are not on your account and not listed on the allowed list.
  • Users Who Are Invited by the Host or Co-Host – those who are invited by the host and co-host while the Zoom meeting is ongoing would bypass the waiting room and would be allowed to join the call immediately.

How to Update Zoom for Desktop.

If you are using Zoom for desktop, you can check for an update by doing the following.

  1. First, open the Zoom desktop app and log into your account.
  2. After that, click on your Profile to open the side menu.
  3. Lastly, click on Check for Updates and follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest version of the app on your computer.

Now, try to join your Zoom meeting that has a waiting room enabled to see if you would be able to join it successfully.

How to Update Zoom for Mobile.

For Android users, you can update the Zoom app by doing the following.

  1. First, open Google Play Store on your Android device.
  2. After that, click on the button with three horizontal lines on the search box to open the side menu.
  3. Now, click on My Apps & Games
  4. Finally, if an update is available, click on the Update button beside the Zoom app to install the update.

On the other hand, if you are using an iOS device, check out the guide below on how to update the Zoom app.

  1. On your iOS device, tap on the App Store to open it.
  2. After that, tap on the Update tab from the bottom navigation bar.

  1. Lastly, if an update is available, simply click the Update button beside the Zoom app to download the update.

Once the update is done, you can now join a Zoom meeting with the waiting room enabled.

This wraps up our guide on how to fix the Zoom error code 3113. If you have other questions, leave a comment below and we would try our best to answer them.

Wondering how you can cast a Zoom meeting onto your TV using your Amazon Fire Stick?

Then this post is written for you.

One of the great features of Zoom is that it is widely applicable with a whole host of different operating systems and streaming devices.

However, for most having Zoom meetings on a screen like a laptop or on a phone can be really uncomfortable. By casting the meetings onto the TV, you can sit back and relax whilst you speak with your team on a widescreen.

Johnny Bravo GIF

Now in this guide, we’re not going to get into how Zoom is so popular or the various features it has, because if you’re reading this then you may already have somewhat an idea of what Zoom is and is capable of. We will dive straight into how you can set up and cast your Zoom meetings onto your TV using your Fire Stick.

The steps can be a little long which is why there aren’t many guides on this topic online. By the end of this post, you will have set up your Zoom meetings to be used on your TV and we will get you to that goal, step-by-step. 🙂

Let’s jump right in.

Note

Take note that the steps below are only applicable if you’re using a Windows 10 PC. This is because if you’re on a Mac, it doesn’t provide an option to directly cast your Mac’s screen onto the TV. There are options such as AirPlay which assist to do this however the vast number of TVs do not support such a feature. We will write a separate guide on how you can go about this soon, so be sure to subscribe to be notified

Step 1: First, Setup Your Zoom Meeting.

Before we can set up our Amazon Fire Stick and begin casting the meeting, we will first need to sign in to our Zoom account and set up the meeting.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Assuming you already have a Zoom account created, you will need to sign in to your Zoom account over on Zoom’s website (zoom.us). If you’ve not created a Zoom account, then you can do so by signing up from here: Create a Zoom Account

Sign Into Zoom Account

  1. Next, once you’ve signed in, from the top menu, select either the Join A Meeting or Host A Meeting options. For the purposes of this guide, we will be going with Host A Meeting, because we don’t have any meetings to currently jump into, so we’re going to host one. From the dropdown box under Host a Meeting, select the With Video Off.

Host a Zoom Meeting with Video Off (Mirroring)

  1. The on-screen instructions will ask you to set up the Zoom app for your Windows 10 PC as well as if you wish to invite any other members to join your meeting. For now, just set up the Zoom app on your Windows PC before getting into setting up our Amazon Fire Stick.

Zoom Mirroring to TV

If you had already installed the Zoom app on your Windows PC then the above steps weren’t all that necessary. The whole point is to set up the Zoom app first because you cannot mirror the Zoom meeting directly from the Zoom website. You have to have to use the Zoom app in order for this to work.

Step 2: Now Setup Your Amazon Fire Stick.

Let’s set up our Amazon Fire Stick so that we can begin casting the Zoom meeting.

Now there are a few prerequisites that you need to do before going through with the steps below. Here is what you need to do:

  • Plug in your Amazon Fire Stick into your TV
  • Log in to your Amazon Fire Stick
  • Have both your PC and the Fire Stick be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Take note that if the PC and the Fire Stick aren’t connected to the same Wi-Fi network, then the mirroring will not happen.

Once you’ve made sure of the above, you can jump onto your Fire Stick and set it up using the steps below:

  1. From your Fire Stick’s home screen (Home button on Fire Stick remote), select the Mirroring option (press right button on Fire Stick remote).

Cast Zoom Meeting on TV Using Fire Stick

  1. Next, you will obtain a screen which says:

“While this screen is open, guest devices can wirelessly mirror their display to:
your-name Fire TV Stick

Cast Zoom Meeting on TV Using Fire Stick

This message simply means that the Fire Stick is ready to be mirrored/connected with devices such as your PC. Proceed to the next method to figure out how you can do it and begin casting Zoom onto the Fire Stick on your TV.

Step 3: Time to Cast Zoom!

The most important step.

On your PC with your Zoom app that you’ve had left opened from Step 1, what you will want to do now is go through the steps below to begin connecting your Windows PC to your Fire Stick to begin the casting.

Here’s what you do, step-by-step:

  1. On your Windows 10 PC, click on the Notifications button which is located on the far bottom right-hand corner of your screen. It’s right beside your time and date display.
  2. Great! Now from the list of available options click on Connect

Cast Zoom Meeting on TV Using Fire Stick

  1. Give it a few seconds for your Fire TV Stick to appear in the list of devices which you’re able to connect to. Remember, as aforementioned, if you’re Windows PC is not connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Fire Stick then the Fire Stick will not appear in the list for connecting. Make sure that you’re connecting to the same Wi-Fi network! Once your Fire Stick appears with the same name as shown in Step 2, click on it.

Cast Zoom Meeting on TV Using Fire Stick
Wait for your Fire TV Stick device name to appear here.

  1. Both your Windows PC and the Fire Stick will be connected as shown by the Connected text which indicates that the connection was successful.
  2. Now from here, you can use your Zoom from your PC to begin the meeting. If you do not know how to start a meeting, refer to the guide here on how to do that: -link-

Help! I am done with the meeting, how do I disconnect Zoom from the Fire Stick?

Once you’re done with your meeting, you can stop the mirroring from your PC to the TV simply by going into your Windows PC’s settings and hit the Disconnect button where you had previously clicked Connect (as shown here in this step (interlink)).

You can also just click on the Home button on your Fire Stick remote to end the mirroring.

Once you’ve stopped the mirroring go back onto your Windows PC and jump back into the Zoom app where the meeting is still ongoing. Simply hit the End Meeting button or Leave Meeting (if you want the others to carry on the meeting without you) in your Zoom app to be done.

There you have it! You can now go ahead with your Zoom meeting right from your TV which is mirrored using your Amazon Fire Stick.

If this guide helped you, please share it. 🙂

This extensive guide will address each of those issues as well as provides solutions on how you can fix it. By the end of this post, you will be able to go about your meetings with the Zoom app running again. 🙂

Let’s jump right in.

How to Fix Zoom Not Working on Mac: 7 Ways

1. Your Mac’s Camera or Webcam Not Working on Zoom? Do This.

If you find that the Zoom app is not detecting your webcam or that the camera is not working, then we highly recommend that you go through our “How To Fix Webcam Not Working on Zoom” post which we curated a few days ago.

The issue itself is quite a popular one, and we provide thirteen solutions on how you can go about fixing the issue and getting your camera working again.

Briefly, here are some of the solutions which we suggest that you do:

  • If you’re on macOS 10.17 version, 10.16 or earlier, then you will want to head over to /Library/QuickTime/ and delete the Video Glide, Sonix SN9C, 3ivx Video Codec, or Desktop Video Out components. Learn more about how you can do it, step-by-step.

zoom not working on mac

  • Make sure that no other video conferencing apps are running in the background such as FaceTime, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams as well as and especially Skype.
  • If the webcam continues not to work, then you will also want to make sure that you try using it with another video conferencing app with Zoom not running in the background. If it works with other apps but not with Zoom, then the issue lies with Zoom. However, if the webcam itself doesn’t work, then you will need to reach out to Apple directly and have the camera checked out for any abnormalities.

2. Zoom Lags on Mac.

It can be challenging to get your head around why the Zoom app could be acting so slow and laggy whenever you try to use it. However, the biggest culprit of such an issue will be your internet connection because Zoom will not be able to without it.

On your Mac, you will want to see the range for your Wi-Fi which you’ve currently connected to. You will also want to test the strength of the connection by going onto your search browser and loading up a random webpage. Another great tip is to test your internet connection by heading over to speedtest.net and carrying out a speed test to see if your internet connection is slower than usual.

Speedtest

If there are issues with your Wi-Fi, then first and foremost you will want to restart your Wi-Fi router or ask your company IT admin to get on it. Additionally, try to restart your Zoom app as well by closing it down completely and starting it.

Once the Wi-Fi reconnects, then you can try to see if this fixes the issue. If it doesn’t, then the Internet Service Provider (ISP) that is responsible for providing internet access will need to address the network issue. You can reach out to your ISP (Xfinity, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.) by googling them and then reaching out to their support.

3. Zoom Screen Share Flickering / Not Working on Mac.

One issue that was frequently reported by Zoom users was finding that the screen share flickers or simply does not work. If you happen to experience the same dilemma, then the following solutions can help provide a fix.

  • Firstly, make sure that your macOS version is updated to the latest version.
  • You will want to see if the screen share flickering issue is directly caused by the Zoom app itself. To figure out if the problem is with the Zoom app: try stopping the screen share first and then starting it back again. You can do this by clicking on Stop Share from the dock and then starting a new share by clicking New Share.

zoom not working on mac

  • If the screen share is not working on Mac, then make sure that you have enabled Zoom to access your screen. Since macOS 10.15 Catalina version, you have to explicitly allow Zoom to access your screen for screen recording. You can do this in your System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Screen Recording. Check the option for zoom.us.

zoom not working on mac

  • If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling the Zoom.us app and then reinstalling it. This should fix most problems with the app itself however will not fix the issue if it is from your Mac (which we will get into next).

zoom not working on mac

  • To identify if the issue is from your Mac, you will want to first close down all background running apps. Screensharing takes up a considerable amount of your Mac’s CPU. So if you have many apps running in the background, your Mac’s CPU usage is going to be closer to 100% which can cause your Zoom video to get choppy, lag and even crash. To find out if your Mac’s CPU is indeed maxed out, bring up Spotlight Search and search for Activity Monitor. In Activity Monitor, you will want to see if the % CPU totals up to 100. If it is, you will want to close down any app which is taking up more than 10% of your CPU.
  • If the screen continues to flicker, even while using other apps such as Discord, Slack for screen sharing, then we advise that you reach out to Apple Support or bring in your Mac to your nearest Apple Store for inspection to see if there are any issues with your Mac’s screen itself.

4. Zoom Keeps Freezing? Here’s What You Can Do.

Again if you find that the Zoom app keeps freezing on your Mac, then you will want to make sure that it is not caused by an overloaded CPU as we have discussed in the previous section.

This is assuming that you’ve already updated your Mac to the latest macOS version and tried to restart/reinstall the Zoom app.

Here’s how you can check your Mac’s CPU usage rate step-by-step:

  1. Firstly, open your Spotlight Search (⌘ + space).
  2. Search for Activity Monitor.
  3. Now in Activity Monitor, under the % CPU column, you will want to go through the list of apps shown and close any apps which are taking too much of CPU. A good rule of thumb to follow is if the program is taking at least 10% of your CPU then it’s worth closing it.

zoom not working on mac

Note

Make sure that no other video conferencing apps such as FaceTime, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Slack are running in the background. Having both Zoom and another app like FaceTime running can cause issues. This is stated by Zoom themselves.

  1. Restart the Zoom app and test if this fixes it.

5. Zoom Audio and Video Issues? Microphone Not Working? Try This.

Almost every video conferencing app has its fair share of issues with audio and video capabilities. We’ve previously covered it for Discord and even Microsoft Teams.

The following solutions can help fix almost any audio or video issue you may be experiencing with Zoom app on your Mac.

  • You will want to make sure to that you’ve permitted Zoom to access your microphone and camera. On your Mac, choose the Apple menu and then select System Preferences. Next, click on Security & Privacy and then click Privacy. Now, click Microphone. Go over to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Over here make sure that you have selected the checkbox next to zoom.us (Zoom) so that it allows Zoom app to access the microphone. Do the same for the Camera option as well. This should provide the permissions for Zoom to access both your microphone and camera allowing you to use them during your meetings.

zoom not working on mac

  • If you’re using wireless Bluetooth earbuds such as AirPods or AirPods Pro, then you will want to make sure that there are no issues with them as well when connecting them to your Mac. We’ve written a post on this “How to Fix AirPods Not Connecting to Macwhich you can try to follow. Take note that the methods shared in this guide are applicable even if you’re using other brands of wireless Bluetooth earbuds or listening devices.
  • Apart from that, you will also want to make sure that there are no issues with your Mac’s built-in microphone, USB microphone or an inline microphone on your Bluetooth headphones/earbuds. You can test your speaker and microphone before joining a meeting by following the steps laid out here.

Alternatively, you can also use the video as reference below:

6. Zoom Crashes on Mac.

The issues I’ve personally encountered with using the Zoom app on Mac was that it kept crashing whenever I would try to connect to the meeting or even sometimes when I try to open the application.

After having tried the below steps, the number of crashes encountered has significantly gone down.

Before you do anything, you will need to isolate the two sources of the issue: 1) Zoom app 2) your Mac. By doing this, you can find out where exactly you need to focus since the issue would have originated from there.

  • First and foremost, as mentioned in Method 3 and Method 4, it is highly likely that there are background running apps that are consuming too much of your Mac’s CPU. You can see this by opening your Activity Monitor, and you should see that the apps take up 100% CPU usage. In which case, after I’ve tried to close down the various programs like XCode, Netflix, Slack, and Final Cut Pro, Zoom worked like a charm without any crashes.  It is also important to note that I also closed almost every other video conferencing apps which I have installed on the Mac such as Discord, Slack and FaceTime.
  • Secondly, it is the app itself. I also uninstalled the Zoom app and reinstalled it. Learn more on how to uninstall and reinstall Zoom from here.
  • I’ve turned off my Mac’s firewall, all third-party antivirus such as Bitdefender (the one I had installed) as well as VPN services such as NordVPN (the one I had). To turn off your Mac’s firewall, simply go into your Mac’s System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall tab. From here, all you have to do is click on Turn Off Firewall. You might be prompted to enter your Mac’s password to confirm your decision.

zoom not working on mac

  • Lastly, I gave a quick check to make sure that the macOS version installed on my Mac was indeed the latest one. To do this, click on the Apple menu in the corner of your screen and choose About This Mac. You’ll be able to see the macOS name, such as macOS Catalina, followed by its version number. From here you can download and install any updates (if any) by clicking on Software Update.

Update macOS on Mac

After completing the above steps, the Zoom app works flawlessly. Regarding the firewall, I allowed Zoom to use the Mac without firewall by following the steps laid out here by Apple’s Support (Under Advanced Settings > Allowing specific applications).

Try it and comment down below whether the steps above work for you as it did for me.

7. Solutions to Zoom Video Black Screen.

There have also been several reports that the Zoom video keeps appearing as a black screen. For some users, they’ve found that the audio works in the background, but the video doesn’t work (appears as a black screen). For others, both audio and video don’t work.

If you find yourself in the same predicament, then we suggest that you go through the steps below. The steps are the same as to what we shared in Method 5:

  • A black screen on Zoom video can happen if you’ve not given permission for your Zoom to access your camera. On your Mac, choose the Apple menu and then select System Preferences. Next, click on Security & Privacy and then click Privacy. Now, click the Camera. Over here make sure that you have selected the checkbox next to zoom.us (Zoom) so that it allows Zoom app to access the camera. Do the same for the Microphone option as well.
  • Test both the camera and microphone with other video conferencing apps like Discord or FaceTime and see if the issue persists. If it does, then you might need to reach out to Apple’s support or visit the Apple Store in person to have your Mac inspected for any issues with the hardware.
